È confortante e piacevole constatare, anche nel 2025, che i musicisti italiani si impegnano ancora anima e corpo nella musica progressiva in senso generale, sia essa rock che metal. Il piacere di comunicare sperimentando e il mettersi alla prova non tarda a manifestarsi, senza cedere il passo alla fine della musica per la mente.
Dietro al moniker Baco Dì Silenzio si cela il siracusano di Augusta Salvatore Scuderi, compositore, oltre che amante del cinema alternativo d'autore. Scuderi inizia la sua carriera strumentale nel 2005 con la band modenese Anomalie, ma i più esperti di voi lo conosceranno per aver militato nel gruppo Anèma, con il quale realizza due dischi: "After The Sea" nel 2017 e "Umana Città" nel 2019. La sua fase sperimentale, tuttavia, scaturisce dal 2023, quando intraprende una carriera solista a nome Baco Dì Silenzio, rilasciando nel 2025 "La Caratura Delle Penisole". In una fase di ottima ispirazione, lo ritroviamo a pochi mesi di distanza con "Aquile E Cieli", un disco formato da otto brani.
Tutti gli strumenti sono suonati da Scuderi, il quale mette a nudo tutto il suo talento, ma soprattutto la sua anima, in composizioni che sfiorano il passato, analizzato da una visione più moderna. Un buon esempio lo abbiamo immediatamente con "Vittima Carnefice", brano per piano e voce ben arrangiato con chitarra elettrica ed effetti sonori. Inizialmente, l'aria ricorda un passato Alan Sorrenti, per poi virare verso un Neo Prog supportato da un buon solo di tastiere. Il finale è ruggente, e qui è ottima la prova vocale, seguita da un solo di chitarra elettrica davvero intrigante.
"Assenzio" è il singolo dell'album, un brano sentito dall'autore, articolato ed effettato con numerose varianti che rendono l'ascolto molto fluido.
Un arpeggio di basso apre "Vertigini", dove si denota maggiormente la volontà dell'artista di non cadere nelle scontate regole del Progressive Rock passato. Effetti, controtempi, movimenti oscuri rendono l'ascolto teso e concentrato.
Baco Dì Silenzio gode di una ferrea personalità, come dimostrano i suoi brani. "Delfini Liberi Di Volare" trapela la mediterraneità inevitabile dell'artista, dove ancora una volta colpisce nel segno con il fraseggio piano e voce non scontato.
C'è anche un passaggio nel Metal Prog con "Bandiere Occulte", per poi tornare nel Prog Rock delicato di "Sei", in cui Scuderi mostra la parte più introspettiva di sé. Questo è uno dei frangenti più intensi dell'intero album, grazie anche a un testo profondo. Un bagno anche nell'approccio sinfonico con "Ottobre", altro petalo sonoro morbido e ricercato.
La chiusura spetta alla canzone "Cosa Vorrà Dirci Il Tempo", semplice e diretta.
"Aquile E Cieli" è un buon esempio di "fai da te", ma mi sarebbe piaciuto ascoltare una band alle sue spalle, soprattutto per la batteria e una migliore produzione. Baco Dì Silenzio si merita una maggiore attenzione, perché le qualità artistiche e le idee ci sono tutte. Un approccio non scontato per un Prog Rock variegato, sentito e divertente. MS

It's heartening and pleasant to see, even in 2025, that Italian musicians are still fully committed to progressive music in general, whether it's rock or metal. The desire to communicate through experimentation and to challenge oneself doesn't fade away, and music for the mind remains a priority.
Behind the moniker Baco Dì Silenzio is the Siracusan Salvatore Scuderi, composer, as well as a fan of alternative auteur cinema. Scuderi began his instrumental career in 2005 with the Modenese band Anomalie, but those more familiar with his work might know him for his time in the group Anèma, with which he released two albums: "After The Sea" in 2017 and "Umana Città" in 2019. However, his experimental phase really began in 2023, when he started a solo career under the name Baco Dì Silenzio, releasing "La Caratura Delle Penisole" in 2025. Just a few months later, he returns with "Aquile E Cieli", an album featuring eight tracks.
All the instruments are played by Scuderi, who reveals his talent and, above all, his soul in compositions that touch on the past, analyzed from a modern perspective. A good example is "Vittima Carnefice", a song for piano and voice, well-arranged with electric guitar and sound effects. Initially, the atmosphere recalls Alan Sorrenti's past, but then shifts towards Neo Prog, supported by a good keyboard solo. The ending is roaring, with an excellent vocal performance, followed by a truly intriguing electric guitar solo.
"Assenzio" is the album's single, a song that feels personal to the author, articulated and effect-laden with numerous variations that make the listening experience very fluid.
A bass arpeggio opens "Vertigini", where the artist's desire to avoid the clichés of past Progressive Rock is more evident. Effects, counter-rhythms, and dark movements make the listening experience tense and concentrated.
Baco Dì Silenzio has a strong personality, as his songs demonstrate. "Delfini Liberi Di Volare" exudes the artist's inevitable Mediterranean flair, where he once again hits the mark with an unsentimental piano and vocal phrasing.
There's also a Metal Prog section with "Bandiere Occulte", followed by the delicate Prog Rock of "Sei", where Scuderi shows his more introspective side. This is one of the most intense moments in the entire album, thanks also to a profound text. The song also features a symphonic approach with "Ottobre", another soft and refined sound.
The closing track is the song "Cosa Vorrà Dirci Il Tempo", simple and direct.
"Aquile E Cieli" is a good example of DIY music, but I would have loved to hear a band behind him, especially for the drums and better production. Baco Dì Silenzio deserves more attention, as he has the artistic qualities and ideas to offer. This is a non-obvious approach to varied, heartfelt, and entertaining Prog Rock. MS
