BACKLASH
– Time To Impact
Art
Of Melody Music / Burning Minds Music Group
Genere: AOR / Rock Melodico
Supporto: CD – 2025
Probabilmente
I Backlash
English, Giant e Journey li conduce a scrivere musica originale. Angelo
"Time
e masterizzate da Roberto Priori (Danger Zone, Wheels Of Fire, Raintimes,
Michele Luppi, StreetLore).
(Melodicrock.it).
Quattro
(chitarra), Luigi Bellanova (chitarra), Mirco Zuffa (batteria, hammond e
tastiere), e il noto cantante Lee Small (The Sweet, Shy, Skyscraper, Phenomena,
Lionheart).
Quello
buon "Innocence Is No Excuse" (1985).
"All
"No
Cristallina
"Looking For A Stranger".
Cadenzata
"Doing Time", quell'andamento proveniente dal Blues sempre
finale spetta a "Over And Over", sunto del genere e dei Backlash
stessi.
"Time
MS
Versione Inglese:
BACKLASH – Time To Impact
Art Of Melody Music / Burning Minds Music Group
Genre: AOR / Melodic Rock
Format: CD – 2025
Melodic Rock is probably one of the perfect music
genres for daily company during breaks or, why not, even during work phases,
but especially to enjoy with a great stereo system. It's the kind of music that
makes you feel good, energetic, broad, and intelligently structured with
well-placed instrumental solos and supported by an excellent voice interpreting
harmonies that are easy to remember and sing along to. Backlash is perfectly
suited for this purpose.
The band was formed in 2015 by guitarist Andrea Frighi
and singer Massimo Ordine (ex Perfect View). Their love for bands like
Survivor, Bad English, Giant, and Journey led them to write original music.
Angelo Franchini from the historic band Crying Steel joined the project in
2023, completing the lineup.
"Time To Impact" is their debut album,
composed of twelve songs recorded, mixed, and mastered by Roberto Priori
(Danger Zone, Wheels Of Fire, Raintimes, Michele Luppi, StreetLore). The CD
booklet was carefully crafted by Aeglos Art and includes the introduction by
Paolo Paganini (Melodicrock.it).
The album features four guest musicians: Massimiliano
Mosci (guitar), Luigi Bellanova (guitar), Mirco Zuffa (drums, Hammond, and
keyboards), and the renowned singer Lee Small (The Sweet, Shy, Skyscraper,
Phenomena, Lionheart).
What stands out immediately with "Aimless
Games" is the sound's cohesion, compact and clean, adding value to a song
that showcases Massimo Ordine's great vocal abilities. I felt like I was
transported back to the '80s when Saxon approached Hard Melodic with their
album "Innocence Is No Excuse" (1985).
"All On The Line" continues with class on
the AOR track, with a song that's carefully crafted in its melodic passages,
and what's striking is the naturalness with which it unfolds; Backlash seems
like a band that's been together for a while rather than a debuting act.
"No Shelter From The Blues" is intimate,
with a chorus that tells a story about the genre, and the supporting guitars
draw spatial melodic lines.
And it's time to step on the accelerator; "Lost
And Found" takes care of that, and I apologize for mentioning Saxon again,
but they seem like one of the most well-known names to help you understand the
stylistic approach. It's an overwhelming and impactful track!
After a wild ride, a reflective moment necessarily
follows with "Forever Night", not a traditional ballad but rather a
delicate and romantic movement. "Mirrorsplay" is crystal clear,
skillfully crafted with all the elements ranging from calm to crescendo,
resulting in a truly enjoyable final product.
Another burst of energy comes from "A Minor
Love", this time leaning towards Joe Lynn Turner, but in general, it's a
classic sound of the genre, as is "Looking For A Stranger".
"Doing Time" has a cadenced rhythm, that
blues-inspired groove that's always captivating, supported by great harmonies
and guitar solos in a pleasant accompaniment. A stylistic variant that I highly
appreciated. The atmosphere becomes dreamy with "Tumbleweed", the
gentle soul of the trio that leads to "Cold Case Of Rock'N'Roll", one
of the album's standout tracks, thanks also to Lee Small's vocal contribution.
The finale goes to "Over And Over", a
summary of the genre and Backlash themselves.
"Time To Impact" is a debut album that hits
all the right notes, music for the body and the mind. For this reason, I feel
compelled to congratulate Burning Minds Music Group on their ability to
discover and give a voice to Italian bands that approach a genre that seems to
say "I am immortal". MS
