Molto spesso la musica viene ispirata dagli artisti semplicemente guardando la natura e ciò che ci circonda. È capitato di dire "Dove finiscono le parole, lì inizia la musica", frase apparentemente banale ma che in effetti ha un suo fondo di verità. I luoghi comuni potrebbero essere tantissimi, "La bellezza è negli occhi di chi guarda", "La natura è la tela su cui Dio dipinge", "La terra ride nei fiori", ecc. Ognuna rappresenta la bellezza e lo stupore umano. L'arte viene incontro alla volontà di esprimere una forte emozione, può essere pittorica, letteraria o musicale.
Il duo milanese MeM sposa la causa strumentale e lo fa con garbo e gentilezza, nel rispetto della natura. Quello delle "Foglie Di Rugiada" è uno scenario che ben si sposa con un momento di puro incanto.
MeM è il progetto di Antongiulio Moneta (chitarre, tastiere, basso, percoduzioni) e Davide Moneta (sax), che prende forma nel 2021. Hanno all'attivo tre album: "Inevitabile Primavera", "Foglia Di Rugiada" e il recente "Cielo e Mare". Nel 2025, la Ma.Ra.Cash Records ripropone con una migliore distribuzione il secondo album del 2023, "Foglia Di Rugiada", e lo fa apportando differenti supporti, vinile e CD, oltre che l'ormai classico e immancabile digitale.
Per la descrizione di scenari bucolici e rilassanti serve musica altrettanto adatta allo scopo, e quale genere se non la Scuola Di Canterbury può adoperarsi in merito?
Certe tessiture sonore hanno radici ben piantate nel tempo. "Pensieri Rincorsi Nel Vento" mostra sin da subito la volontà di aleggiare attorno agli anni '70 con scappate nel Neo Prog, soprattutto grazie all'uso delle tastiere. Buoni i momenti chitarristici che richiamano alla mente i primissimi IQ. Il suono non so se è volutamente datato, tuttavia non influisce più di tanto sulla riuscita finale, anche se a tratti manca di equilibrio fra le strumentazioni. I nove minuti abbondanti dei MeM fanno un sunto del Progressive Rock, con tanto di buoni arrangiamenti.
La title track è una diapositiva della bellezza mattutina dove il sax apporta un valore emozionale aggiunto. Con l'ingresso delle tastiere e delle altre strumentazioni, l'enfasi travolge e in me alcuni passaggi dei Camel ritornano alla memoria.
Esistono due brani intrecciati fra di loro e che compongono una suite, "Asimmetrica Pt1" e "Asimmetrica Pt2", assieme superano i quindici minuti di musica anche orchestrata, dove il mellotron è adoperato come nel 1969 dai King Crimson.
In questa musica non scaturiscono inutili tecnicismi, si bada molto alla sostanza.
"Il Respiro Imprevedibile Dei Sogni" dipinge con colori tenui scenari onirici dove l'ascoltatore inevitabilmente viene trasportato.
In "Rosso Amarena" il sax diventa protagonista e la musica si fa totale, andando a curiosare in differenti generi, compresi quelli più sperimentali. La quiete ritorna ne "Il volo", sunto della capacità compositive di MeM.
Sarà banale dirlo, ma in "Foglia Di Rugiada" c'è musica per la mente, quella che fa stare bene. Quando si vuole spezzare la routine quotidiana con un momento di relax, ci pensano i MeM, all'occorrenza affidatevi alla loro arte propedeutica. MS

Very often, music is inspired by artists simply by looking at nature and what surrounds us. It's happened to the saying "Where words end, music begins", a phrase that may seem banal but has a kernel of truth. Commonplaces could be countless, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder", "Nature is the canvas on which God paints", "The earth smiles in flowers", etc. Each one represents human beauty and wonder. Art comes to meet the desire to express a strong emotion, it can be pictorial, literary, or musical.
The Milanese duo MeM espouses the instrumental cause and does so with grace and gentleness, in respect of nature. The scenario of "Foglie Di Rugiada" is one that perfectly matches a moment of pure enchantment.

For the description of bucolic and relaxing scenarios, music suited to the purpose is needed, and what genre if not the Canterbury School can serve this purpose?
Certain sound textures have deep roots in time. "Pensieri Rincorsi Nel Vento" shows from the start the willingness to hover around the 1970s with excursions into Neo Prog, especially thanks to the use of keyboards. Good guitar moments that recall the very first IQ. The sound, whether intentionally dated or not, doesn't significantly impact the final outcome, although it sometimes lacks balance between the instrumentation. The MeM's nine-plus minutes make a summary of Progressive Rock, complete with good arrangements.
The title track is a snapshot of morning beauty where the sax adds an emotional value. With the entry of keyboards and other instrumentation, the emphasis overwhelms, and some Camel passages come to mind.
There are two intertwined tracks that make up a suite, "Asimmetrica Pt1" and "Asimmetrica Pt2", which together exceed fifteen minutes of music, including orchestral music, where the mellotron is used as in 1969 by King Crimson.
In this music, unnecessary technicalities are absent; the focus is on substance.
"Il Respiro Imprevedibile Dei Sogni" paints with soft colors oneiric scenarios where the listener is inevitably transported.
In "Rosso Amarena" the sax becomes the protagonist, and the music becomes total, exploring different genres, including more experimental ones. The quiet returns in "Il Volo", a summary of MeM's compositional abilities.
