Gli Hard Rocker italiani Wheels Of Fire dal 2010 hanno saputo ritagliarsi un posto d’onore nell’olimpo dell’Hard Rock melodico grazie a tre album pieni di buone melodie e riff taglienti. La band si forma nel 2006 per iniziativa del cantante Davide Barbieri. In seguito la collaborazione con Michele Luppi (Whitesnake) li conduce a realizzare il primo album intitolato “Hollywood Rocks” dove il pubblico e la critica accolgono subito il talento della band avvicinandola per stile a capisaldi come Bon Jovi, White Lion, Raintimes e altri ancora. Il successo viene confermato dalle date live importanti, come quelle intraprese con Jeff Scott Soto, Bonfire e Kee Marcello, solo per fare tre nomi.
“All In” è il quarto disco in studio, molto curato anche nel libretto che contiene le note di Martin Stark (Rock It! Magazine) e l’artwork per mano di Aeglos Art.
La formazione è composta da Davide “Dave Rox” Barbieri (voce, tastiere), Stefano Zeni (chitarre), Simon Dredo (basso), e Fabrizio Uccellini (batteria). Simon Dredo suona anche con i Room Experience.
Una prerogativa del sound Wheels Of Fire è l’uso della composizione a favore della facile memorizzazione, grazie a incisi gradevoli, assolo penetranti, tastiere presenti e riff diretti. Per raggiungere quest’obiettivo si necessita inevitabilmente di una sezione ritmica quantomeno unisona che si adopera proprio come un motore ben oliato.
Il singolo “Fool’s Paradise” apre le danze e racconta le percezioni che viviamo nella vita odierna fra inganni, illusioni e inevitabili delusioni. Il protagonista “Fool” è un illuso che crede di vivere in paradiso, ma per essere rassicurato di questa sua esistenza agiata si affida a una cartomante. La verità purtroppo è ben altra cosa. La sua coscienza alla fine gli mostra la pura e cruda realtà delle cose per come realmente sono, il raggiro è sempre dietro l’angolo. Il riff metallico rimanda ai Saxon anni ’80, il ritmo serrato conduce l’ascoltatore in un balzo temporale a ritroso, dove la strada e la polvere sono protagoniste. Immancabile il breve solo di chitarra tagliente e preciso.
Tastiere eteree iniziano “Under Your Spell”, altro pezzo robusto in cui si manifesta la caratura tecnica e culturale della band, capace di assorbire le caratteristiche del genere per poi riproporle con la propria personalità, sempre ricca di buone melodie di fondo.
Effetti stereo iniziano “End Of Time”, qui la ritmica si stabilizza in un suono cadenzato e ricco di cambi di tempo. La canzone si muove in diversi territori pur restando radicata a un inciso diretto che farà la gioia degli estimatori di Bon Jovi e White Lion.
La ballata ha il nome di “Resonate”, con tanto di piano e un’interpretazione sentita da parte dell’ottimo Davide “Dave Rox” Barbieri. E’ qui che solitamente la chitarra elettrica si distingue per l’immancabile solo toccante.  Da sottolineare le buone coralità vocali.
“99 Lies” ha un inizio tenebroso, quasi antico, per poi sfociare nel classico mondo dell’Hard Rock melodico. Un esempio di come uno stile non s’improvvisa. “99 Lies” è trascinante, impossibile resistere al ritmo, durante l’ascolto vi potreste trovare a fare headbanging. “Neverland” riporta nuovamente agli anni ’80, quando il genere mieteva vittime su vittime trascinando molte band alla fama.
Ma non ci sono soltanto frangenti frivoli, esistono anche tematiche toccanti come la malattia del cancro. “Invisible” parla proprio di questo nemico che ci potrebbe condurre alla morte esaltando l’importanza di chi ci è vicino durante questi ardui momenti. Piano e voce aprono la ballata ben congeniata.
“Walking On The Wire” torna a prenderci a schiaffi in faccia ricordandoci che siamo sempre al cospetto dell’Hard Rock. A seguire la cadenzata “Heaven Is Sold Out” e la conclusiva “Staring Out The Window”, piccola gemma sonora incastonata nell’ulteriore semi ballata.
I Wheels Of Fire con “All In” dimostrano che la musica è gioia, sottofondo, protagonismo, energia e molto altro, tuttavia ricordiamoci sempre che il Rock in senso generale non è soltanto musica, ma un vero e proprio stile di vita. E bravi… MS

Italian hard rockers Wheels Of Fire since 2010 have been able to carve out a place of honor in the Olympus of melodic Hard Rock thanks to three albums full of good melodies and sharp riffs. The band was formed in 2006 on the initiative of singer Davide Barbieri. Later, the collaboration with Michele Luppi (Whitesnake) leads them to make their first album entitled “Hollywood Rocks” where the public and critics immediately welcome the band's talent, bringing it closer in style to such cornerstones as Bon Jovi, White Lion, Raintimes and others. The success is confirmed by important live dates, such as those undertaken with Jeff Scott Soto, Bonfire and Kee Marcello, just to name three.
“All In” is the band's fourth studio album, which is also highly polished in the booklet containing notes by Martin Stark (Rock It! Magazine) and artwork at the hands of Aeglos Art.
The lineup consists of Davide “Dave Rox” Barbieri (vocals, keyboards), Stefano Zeni (guitars), Simon Dredo (bass), and Fabrizio Uccellini (drums). Simon Dredo also plays with Room Experience.
A prerogative of the Wheels Of Fire sound is the use of composition in favor of easy memorization, thanks to pleasing etchings, penetrating solos, present keyboards and direct riffs. Achieving this goal inevitably requires at least a unison rhythm section that works just like a well-oiled engine.
The single “Fool's Paradise” opens the dances and tells about the perceptions we live in today's life among deceptions, illusions and inevitable disappointments. The protagonist “Fool” is a deluded man who believes he is living in paradise, but to be reassured of his comfortable existence he relies on a fortune teller. Unfortunately, the truth is quite different. His conscience eventually shows him the pure and raw reality of things as they really are; deception is always just around the corner. The metallic riff harkens back to 1980s Saxon, the tight rhythm takes the listener on a backward time jump, where the road and dust take center stage. Unmissable is the short, sharp, precise guitar solo.
Ethereal keyboards begin “Under Your Spell”, another robust piece in which the band's technical and cultural caliber manifests itself, capable of absorbing the genre's characteristics and then repurposing them with its own personality, always full of good background melodies.
Stereo effects begin “End Of Time”, here the rhythm settles into a cadenced sound full of tempo changes. The song moves into different territories while remaining rooted to a straightforward aside that will delight admirers of Bon Jovi and White Lion.
The ballad has the name “Resonate”, complete with piano and a heartfelt performance by the excellent Davide “Dave Rox” Barbieri. It is here that the electric guitar usually stands out with the ever-present touching solo.  Good vocal choruses should be noted.
“99 Lies” has a gloomy, almost ancient beginning, then blurs into the classic world of melodic Hard Rock. An example of how a style does not improvise. “99 Lies” is dragging, impossible to resist the beat, while listening you may find yourself headbanging. “Neverland” takes you back to the 1980s again, when the genre reaped victim after victim dragging many bands to fame.
But there are not only frivolous junctures, there are also touching themes such as the disease of cancer. “Invisible” speaks of this very enemy that could lead us to death by extolling the importance of those close to us during these arduous moments. Piano and vocals open the well-crafted ballad.
“Walking On The Wire” returns to slap us in the face reminding us that we are always in the presence of Hard Rock. This is followed by the cadenced “Heaven Is Sold Out” and the closing “Staring Out The Window”, a small sonic gem embedded in the further semi-ballad.
Wheels Of Fire with “All In” prove that music is joy, background, prominence, energy and much more, yet let us always remember that Rock in a general sense is not just music, but a real way of life. And bravo... MS
