ULTERIORI USCITE PROGRESSIVE ROCK ITALIANO 2025

Oltre ai dischi recensiti qui nel blog, che in questo post non vado a menzionare, nel corso dell’anno ne sono usciti altri interessanti; eccone alcuni:

Luciano Margorani, Dario D'Alessandro, Chris Cutler – Triangolazioni
(autoproduzione – Bandcamp)

Luciano Margorani, storico nome della scena Avant-Prog e RIO italiana con LA 1919, crea un progetto incentrato sulla batteria. Con lui due nomi importanti nel settore, Dario D’Alessandro (Homunculus Res, Lunophone) e Chris Cutler. Esperimento rischioso ma abbastanza fruibile, con passaggi anche nella scena di Canterbury.

Alessandro Zilio – Here, Now

Interessante album strumentale del giovane chitarrista torinese Alessandro Zilio. Una vetrina per le doti tecniche, ma anche per fare una passeggiata in differenti stili sonori, spaziando dall'Ambient al Rock, dal Pop al Metal. Bellissima “Tree House”.

Chapter Zero - A Constant Inner Struggle

Prog più prossimo alla formula canzone per la band formata da Marco Govoni (basso), Marco Oppi (voce), Michele Galli (chitarra), Davide Morisi (chitarra), Vincenzo Tuccio (tastiere), e Giacomo Calabria (batteria). Non esulano passaggi nel Metal Prog. I brani sono molto orecchiabili; notevole “Invisible Moonlight”.

Doracor - Unexpected Intersections
(AMS)

Il tastierista Corrado Sardella, in arte Doracor, è al suo decimo album in studio. Una carriera passata a suonare Prog di buona fattura attraverso influenze anni ’70 e Neo Prog. Come suo stile, si avvale di un grandissimo numero di special guest per un risultato professionale ricco di buone intuizioni. Davvero consigliato.

Marco Ragni - Welcome To The Artificial Age

Il prolifico chitarrista di Rovigo rilascia il suo quindicesimo album da studio, sempre più prossimo a una Psichedelia Prog curata e ispirata anche al mondo dei Porcupine Tree. L’eleganza con cui esprime la propria musica ben si lega con le melodie di facile fruizione per un risultato a tratti onirico e a tratti elettrico. Da avere.

Monteceneri – Due
(autoproduzione – Spotify)

Se amate il Post Rock elettronico e psichedelico, questo EP dei Monteceneri fa proprio al vostro caso. La band milanese è nata dall’incontro tra musicisti di diverse formazioni nei sotterranei di via Lombroso. Consigliato agli estimatori di Mogwai e Vangelis.

Pino Carella – Il Ritorno

Per i nostalgici del Prog italiano anni ’70, Pino Carella, cantante e tastierista della band La Sorgente, esce con questo doppio album di inediti di venti canzoni fra Prog sinfonico, Orme e molto altro che il genere ci ha rilasciato nei decenni. Belle le parti strumentali, sempre dall’ampio respiro e enfasi. Le tematiche sono sociali e offrono una risposta cristiana, non religiosa e non schierata e influenzata da alcuna aderenza religiosa denominazionale.

In addition to the albums reviewed here on the blog, which I won't mention in this post, several other interesting ones have been released throughout the year; here are a few:

Luciano Margorani, Dario D'Alessandro, Chris Cutler – Triangolazioni
(self-produced – Bandcamp)

Luciano Margorani, a historic name in the Italian Avant-Prog and RIO scene with LA 1919, creates a project centered on drums. Alongside him are two important names in the field, Dario D’Alessandro (Homunculus Res, Lunophone) and Chris Cutler. A risky experiment, but quite enjoyable, with passages also in the Canterbury scene.

Alessandro Zilio – Here, Now
(self-produced – Bandcamp)

Interesting instrumental album by the young Turin guitarist Alessandro Zilio. A showcase for his technical skills, but also a walk through different sound styles, ranging from Ambient to Rock, from Pop to Metal. Beautiful "Tree House".

Keyboardist Corrado Sardella, aka Doracor, is at his tenth studio album. A career spent playing high-quality Prog through 1970s influences and Neo Prog. As is his style, he relies on a large number of special guests for a professional result rich in good insights. Highly recommended.

Marco Ragni - Welcome To The Artificial Age

The prolific Rovigo guitarist releases his fifteenth studio album, increasingly close to a curated and inspired Psychedelic Prog, also influenced by the world of Porcupine Tree. The elegance with which he expresses his music blends well with easy-to-listen-to melodies for a result that is both dreamy and electric. Worth having.

Monteceneri – Due
(self-produced – Spotify)

If you love electronic and psychedelic Post Rock, this EP by Monteceneri is just right for you. The Milanese band was born from the meeting of musicians from different formations in the basements of Via Lombroso. Recommended for fans of Mogwai and Vangelis.

Pino Carella – Il Ritorno
(self-produced – Spotify)

For those nostalgic for Italian Prog from the 1970s, Pino Carella, singer and keyboardist of the band La Sorgente, releases this double album of twenty unpublished songs, ranging from symphonic Prog to Orme and much more that the genre has released over the decades. Beautiful instrumental parts, always with a broad breath and emphasis. The themes are social and offer a Christian response, non-religious and non-aligned, and not influenced by any denominational religious adherence.
