Da che mondo è mondo, l'interesse dell'uomo per lo spazio e le forme di vita aliene è sempre stato un interesse focale. L'amore per l'ignoto sposa la fantasia con la realtà, apportando nell'arte argomentazioni scandagliate e approfondite. La musica di certo non è da meno; molti album concept sono incentrati su queste argomentazioni, le quali lasciano sfogo a un sound spesso "spaziale" e elettronico. Anche in Italia abbiamo avuto tanti avventurieri, soprattutto in campo sperimentale, sin dagli anni '70, e l'interesse si protrae nel tempo sino a giungere ai giorni odierni con progetti che si muovono nel sottosuolo. Un esempio particolarmente indovinato è quello dei PC-Newton, duo visionario formato dal cantante Cosmo Saint e dal polistrumentista Paul Electron The Traslater. La musica proposta spazia dall'elettronica allo Space Synth Prog, creando un nuovo filone e genere musicale denominato "Cosmo Domine".
Il nome che si sono scelti viene ispirato da TC Newton, l'uomo caduto sulla Terra interpretato nel 1976 da David Bowie nel film di Nicolas Roeg.
La discografia dei PC-Newton inizia nel 2017 e, dopo ben sette album in studio, si completa oggi con "The Chronicles Of CosmoSaint", alla ricerca del nuovo suono del futuro.
Nove sono le tracce che formano il concept, rappresentato dall'artwork di RRR Remi Galiazzo. Il viaggio intergalattico parte da "Interstellar Generation", dove la bella voce di Cosmo Saint descrive il paesaggio immenso con un tappeto sonoro in bilico fra gli anni '80 e 2000. Certi frangenti possono addirittura richiamare la New Wave, tanta è l'orecchiabilità del contesto. "Fuck The Virus" è un pezzo ballabile inserito pure nella compilation "Roccaccio Vol. 1" e che richiama di base la ritmica di "Another One Bites The Dust" dei Queen, anche se in realtà il pezzo si dipana successivamente in un altro territorio intervallato da momenti di chitarra elettrica distorta.
"Out Of Sight" ci catapulta nel cosmo e nella dance degli anni '70, quella sperimentale, un brano molto interessante per scelte sonore e soluzioni strutturali. Curati gli effetti che accompagnano il tutto. Interessante anche "Berlin Blues Theme", dove la melodia è semplice ma allo stesso tempo impreziosita dagli interventi vocali che richiamano alla memoria alcune scelte passate di David Bowie; non a caso, a esso segue il pezzo intitolato proprio "Heroes", una cover di grande personalità del Duca Bianco!
"Over" invece conduce l'ascolto in un mondo rarefatto e molto pop anni '80. "Run To The World Of Imagination" preme sull'acceleratore con l'utilizzo della chitarra elettrica; qui i PC-Newton ricercano maggiormente e spaziano nell'elettronica con personalità. Un altro frangente arioso s'intitola "Now Last Time", mentre la conclusiva "Stratosferica" è la chicca finale di ben sedici minuti di musica spaziale, dove tutta la creatività del duo si esprime al meglio.
"The Chronicles Of CosmoSaint" è un disco maturo, rispettoso del passato ma con uno sguardo al futuro, dove la creatività ben si sposa con la ricerca sonora e strutturale; una variante alla musica che ascoltiamo oggi per aprire una gustosa parentesi alla nostra mente. MS

Since the dawn of time, humanity's fascination with space and alien life forms has been a focal point of interest. The love for the unknown marries fantasy with reality, bringing forth in-depth explorations in art. Music is no exception; many concept albums are centered around these themes, often resulting in a sound that's both "spacey" and electronic. Italy too has had its fair share of pioneers, particularly in experimental music, starting from the 1970s, and this interest continues to this day with underground projects. A prime example is PC-Newton, a visionary duo composed of vocalist Cosmo Saint and multi-instrumentalist Paul Electron The Traslater. Their music spans electronic to Space Synth Prog, creating a new genre dubbed "Cosmo Domine".
The name PC-Newton is inspired by TC Newton, the man who fell to Earth, portrayed by David Bowie in the 1976 film by Nicolas Roeg.
PC-Newton's discography began in 2017, and after seven studio albums, it's now completed with "The Chronicles Of CosmoSaint", a quest for the sound of the future.
The nine tracks form a concept represented by RRR Remi Galiazzo's artwork. The intergalactic journey starts with "Interstellar Generation", where Cosmo Saint's voice describes the vast landscape with a sound that balances between the '80s and 2000s. Some moments evoke New Wave due to the catchy context. "Fuck The Virus" is a danceable track also featured in the compilation "Roccaccio Vol. 1", drawing inspiration from Queen's "Another One Bites The Dust", but later unfolding into a different territory with distorted electric guitar moments.
"Out Of Sight" propels us into the cosmos and '70s experimental dance, an interesting piece for its sound choices and structural solutions. The effects accompanying it are well-crafted. "Berlin Blues Theme" is also noteworthy, with a simple melody enriched by vocal interventions reminiscent of David Bowie's past work; fittingly, it's followed by the track "Heroes", a highly personal cover of the song by the Thin White Duke!
"Over" transports the listener to a rarefied '80s pop world. "Run To The World Of Imagination" accelerates with electric guitar, where PC-Newton explores electronic music with personality. Another airy segment is titled "Now Last Time", while the final "Stratosferica" is a 16-minute spatial music gem where the duo's creativity shines.
"The Chronicles Of CosmoSaint" is a mature album, respectful of the past but with an eye on the future, where creativity blends with sonic and structural research; a variant to the music we listen to today, opening a delightful parenthesis for our minds.
