Uno degli argomenti più trattati in numerose sedi differenti parlando sul sociale è il rapporto con cui viviamo il fenomeno internet. La tecnologia ci ha portato il mondo in casa con la possibilità di avere tutto e subito, sia nei rapporti umani che a livello di oggettistiche facili da reperire. Tutto si velocizza, ci lega, e tramite i social si ha la possibilità di interagire con la totalità delle persone nel mondo. Questo fenomeno potrebbe essere davvero utile se adoperato nella maniera adeguata, cosa che spesso così non è, ecco dunque che il risultato di oggi è diametralmente opposto a quanto presagito, siamo tutti connessi ma distanti fra di noi a discapito del rapporto umano. Trovarsi dietro una tastiera rende molte delle persone false, un luogo in cui non ci si può fidare, siamo connessi e allo stesso tempo disconnessi.
Quest’argomento è approfondito anche nell’ultimo lavoro concept di una delle band più interessanti del nostrano panorama progressivo, i romani La Bocca Della Verità.
Il gruppo oggi formato da Guglielmo Mariotti (basso, synth), Fabrizio Marziani (voce, chitarre), Roberto Bucci (chitarra elettrica, cori), Jimmy Bax (organo, tastiere, voce) e Massimo Di Paola (piano, tastiere, voce) nasce nel 2001 con l’intento di proporre sonorità care a band come Genesis, Pink Floyd, EL &P, PFM e Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso, il tutto rielaborato con la personalità dei strumentisti. Un mix fra passato e presente che già nel debutto “Avenoth” (Fading Records) del 2016, ha fornito prova delle potenzialità di questa musica. Dopo ben sette anni ritornano con “[Un]connected”, un disco elaborato e supportato anche da importanti special guest come ad esempio il chitarrista del Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso, Filippo Marchegiani nel brano “Cryogenic Hope”. A completare la squadra di supporto ci sono Marco Vincini (voce), Valerio Fisik (direttore musicale, cori), Angelo Cappiello (supervisore vocale, cori), Alessandro Inolti (batteria), e Ilaria Monteleone (voce).
Il viaggio che si affronta durante l’ascolto composto di sedici tracce, suggerisce come unica via di salvezza l’amore, il ritorno ai valori primordiali, la bellezza e l’accettazione della morte.
Il disco si apre ovviamente con la connessione, il brano completamente strumentale s’intitola “Connected Ouverture”, qui le note immergono immediatamente l’ascoltatore nel mondo virtuale, un enfatico inizio progressivo che potrebbe essere accostato a quello di Neal Morse per intensità e pienezza dei suoni, soprattutto per merito delle tastiere arrembanti. La chitarra elettrica è libera di cavalcare sulle note sostenute da una ritmica accurata e rodata, un connubio Prog che mostra immediatamente le caratteristiche di questa band.
La voce subentra in “Winter In Our Mind” assieme al Mellotron, strumento chiave del Progressive Rock in senso generale. Gli anni ’70 si materializzano nella mente, la musica prende una strada maggiormente riflessiva e pacata. In “Hikkomori Humanity” c’è Roberto Bucci alla chitarra, qui diversi sono i punti di congiunzione con il genere Neo Prog.  Un problema che spesso si riscontra nell’ascolto del Rock Progressivo Italiano è la voce, in questo caso si può fare una eccezione, perché la prova di Marziani è gradevole oltre che ottima interprete dei testi, spesso al limite del recitato come ha saputo fare Fish dei Marillion negli anni ’80. Energica “I'm Gonna Buy Something”, un bagno nell’Hard Prog che non ti aspetti. “Lullaby Of The Ancient World” come suggerisce il titolo, è una ninna nanna a più voci, a testimonianza di un attenta cura per gli arrangiamenti, mentre la chitarra classica disegna atmosfere Genesiane. “Blind Trust” torna a sondare i muscoli della band che si dimostra ancora una volta altamente coesa.
Ma il pezzo forte dell’album a mio parere s’intitola “Liquid Suite”, brano di quindici minuti che ancora una volta mi riporta al mondo dei Spock’s Beard di Neal Morse. Tutto il resto lo scoprirete voi se siete interessati amanti di questo genere musicale.
Nuovamente mi ritrovo a decantare le lodi di un lavoro italiano, sotto questo aspetto oggi non siamo secondi proprio a nessuno, se non addirittura sopra, tutto questo grazie anche a realtà come i La Bocca Della Verità.  Sarebbe davvero un peccato non ascoltarli perché semplicemente ottimi! MS

One of the most talked about topics in many different venues speaking on social is the relationship with which we live the internet phenomenon. Technology has brought the world into our homes with the possibility of having everything and everything now, both in human relationships and in easy-to-find objects. Everything is speeded up, it binds us together, and through social media we have the ability to interact with the totality of people in the world. This phenomenon could be really useful if used in the proper way, which is often not the case, so here is the result today is diametrically opposed to what was foreshadowed, we are all connected but distant from each other to the detriment of human relationship. Being behind a keyboard makes many of the people false, a place where we cannot be trusted, we are connected and disconnected at the same time.
This topic is also explored in depth in the latest concept work of one of the most interesting bands in our progressive scene, the Romans La Bocca Della Verità.

After a good seven years they return with "[Un]connected," an elaborate record also supported by important special guests such as Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso guitarist Filippo Marchegiani in the track "Cryogenic Hope." Rounding out the support team are Marco Vincini (vocals), Valerio Fisik (musical director, backing vocals), Angelo Cappiello (vocal supervisor, backing vocals), Alessandro Inolti (drums), and Ilaria Monteleone (vocals).
The journey one faces while listening composed of sixteen tracks suggests love, a return to primal values, beauty and the acceptance of death as the only way of salvation.
The album obviously opens with connection, the fully instrumental track is titled "Connected Overture," here the notes immediately immerse the listener in the virtual world, an emphatic progressive beginning that could be likened to Neal Morse's in terms of intensity and fullness of sound, especially due to the harrowing keyboards. The electric guitar is free to ride on the notes supported by an accurate and broken-in rhythm, a Prog combination that immediately highlights the characteristics of this band.
Vocals take over in "Winter In Our Mind" along with the Mellotron, a key instrument of Progressive Rock in a general sense. The 1970s materialize in the mind, the music takes a more reflective and calm path. In "Hikkomori Humanity" there is Roberto Bucci on guitar, here several are the points of conjunction with the Neo Prog genre.  A problem often found in listening to Italian Progressive Rock is the vocals, in this case an exception can be made, because Marziani's evidence is pleasant as well as excellent interpreter of the lyrics, often bordering on acting as Fish of Marillion was able to do in the 1980s.
Energetic "I'm Gonna Buy Something," a bath in Hard Prog that you don't expect. "Lullaby Of The Ancient World," as the title suggests, is a multi-voiced lullaby, a testament to careful attention to arrangements, while classical guitar draws Genesian atmospheres. "Blind Trust" returns to test the muscles of the band, which once again proves highly cohesive.
But the highlight of the album in my opinion is entitled "Liquid Suite," a fifteen-minute track that once again takes me back to the world of Neal Morse's Spock's Beard. Everything else you will discover if you are interested lovers of this genre of music.
Once again I find myself extolling the praises of an Italian work, in this aspect today we are second to none at all, if not even above, all thanks in part to the likes of La Bocca Della Verità.  It would really be a shame not to listen to them because they are simply excellent! MS
