L’arte del progetto Airportman non conosce limiti, il roatese Giovanni Risso e il cuneese Marco Lamberti ne hanno raccontate di storie e poesie dal lontano 2003, tanto da giungere oggi al ventesimo sigillo in studio intitolato “Ed E’ Subito Autunno”.
La vena poetica musicale trapela anche dalla citazione del titolo di questa nuova opera suddivisa in nove tracce acustiche, fra Post Rock e cantautorato. Le chitarre sono la penna stilografica che, attraverso una bella calligrafia, narrano la storia dell’abbandono, il quale non deve per forza essere traumatico, bensì esiste anche quello che si sviluppa nella natura delle cose, ad esempio nell’uscita di casa di un figlio, ed ecco che il tepore dell’estate si raffredda in cumulonembi per lo stato d’animo. Perfetta la fotografia della cover per opera di Maurizio Zarpellon, incastonata in un artwork cartonato che si apre in modalità poster.
Risso e Lamberti sono uno di fronte l’altro, con ognuno la propria chitarra in mano, ed è qui che l’alchimia si materializza, rilasciando nell’aria un susseguirsi di note semplici, dirette, senza tanti fronzoli.
Colpisce sin da subito la semplicità con cui gli Airportman disegnano le sensazioni attraverso pochi accordi, “All’Improvviso” ha intrinseca quella nostalgia che assale anche quando siamo avanti al vetro di una finestra battuta dalle gocce di un temporale mentre guardiamo di fuori. Che poi sia una sensazione malinconica è vero, ma non è detto che sia necessariamente brutta, anche perché la vita è fatta di passaggi emotivi differenti, fra cui alcuni rassicuranti come lo stare al chiuso nei momenti opportuni.
Attraverso “Ed E’ Subito Autunno Part 1- Part 2” si può apprezzare la linea compositiva maggiormente ricercata, essendo questo il brano più lungo dell’album grazie ai sei minuti abbondanti di durata. Una chitarra fa il riff di base, mentre la seconda costruisce sopra passaggi meditativi. Il disco, completamente strumentale, prosegue con “Il Molo Silenzioso”, un ulteriore dialogo scarno e introspettivo in cui il suono sposa l’immagine della fantasia.
La musica lascia spesso spazio alla dolcezza, “Ed Il Freddo” non esula dall’argomentare questa tematica cara anche (per chi dovesse conoscerli) ai nordici Landberk di “Indian Summer”. In due minuti e mezzo “Dispiegare Le Ali” lascia entrare un raggio di sole, ma è una breve illusione che si dissolve con l’arrivo di “Ed Il Vuoto”.
Sensazioni di leggerezza pervadono l’aria attraverso “Veleggiare” per poi entrare in una sensazione ipnotica attraverso gli arpeggi di “Non Solo Mi Manchi”.
Conclude “Grande Albero” questo viaggio interiore messo a nudo da Risso e Lamberti.
“Ed E’ Subito Autunno” è un disco che va ascoltato con lo stato d’animo giusto, al momento giusto, perché il sapore di ogni nota va centellinato a piccoli sorsi, proprio come un vino pregiato, senza deleterie distrazioni esterne... In santa pace. MS

The art of the Airportman project knows no bounds, the Roatese Giovanni Risso and Cuneo-based Marco Lamberti have been telling stories and poems since as far back as 2003, so much so that today they have reached their twentieth studio seal entitled “Ed E' Subito Autunno”.
The musical poetic vein seeps through even from the title quote of this new work divided into nine acoustic tracks, between Post Rock and songwriting. The guitars are the fountain pen that, through beautiful calligraphy, tell the story of abandonment, which does not have to be traumatic, but rather there is also that which develops in the nature of things, for example in the leaving home of a child, and here is that the warmth of summer cools into cumulonembers for the state of mind. Perfect cover photography by Maurizio Zarpellon, set in hardback artwork that opens in poster mode.
Risso and Lamberti are facing each other, each holding their own guitar, and it is here that the alchemy materializes, releasing into the air a succession of simple, direct, unadulterated notes.
Striking right from the start is the simplicity with which Airportman draw feelings through a few chords, “All’Improvviso” has inherent that nostalgia that assails even when we are standing in front of a window pane beaten by the drops of a thunderstorm as we look outside. That it is then a melancholy feeling is true, but it is not necessarily bad, not least because life is made up of different emotional transitions, including some reassuring ones such as being indoors at opportune times.
Through “Ed E' Subito Autunno Part 1- Part 2”, one can appreciate the most researched compositional line, this being the longest track on the album thanks to its abundant six minutes of duration. One guitar does the basic riff, while the second builds over meditative passages. The completely instrumental record continues with “Il Molo Silenzioso”, another sparse and introspective dialogue in which sound marries the image of fantasy.
The music often leaves room for gentleness, “Ed Il Freddo” does not shy away from arguing this theme also dear (for those who should know them) to the Nordic Landberk of “Indian Summer”. At two and a half minutes, “Dispiegare Le Ali” lets in a ray of sunshine, but it is a brief illusion that dissipates with the arrival of “Ed Il Vuoto”.
Sensations of lightness pervade the air through “Veleggiare” and then enter a hypnotic feeling through the arpeggios of “Non Solo Mi Manchi”.
“Grande Albero” concludes this inner journey laid bare by Risso and Lamberti.
“Ed E' Subito Autunno” is a record that should be listened to in the right mood, at the right time, because the flavor of each note should be sipped in small sips, just like a fine wine, without deleterious external distractions... In holy peace. MS
