Esiste un ricambio generazionale nel mondo del Rock Progressivo italiano dedicato al sound degli anni ’70, musicisti che si cimentano in sonorità colme di tastiere e di cambi di tempo proprio come facevano i famosi Genesis, tanto per fare un solo nome.
E’ encomiabile questo attaccamento ai tempi che furono, malgrado oggi non ci siano più i contesti sociali a supportare l’andamento, questa volontà di tenere sempre viva la fiaccola del cosiddetto Rock colto, regala a volte risultati persino gradevoli.
Un esordio al riguardo ce lo propone i Cinema Styge, band di Milano formata alcuni anni fa da  Gianluca Bonelli (voce, chitarra) e Stefano Sabbatino (basso) ai quali si aggiungono Luca Montone (batteria, percussioni) e Andrea Gobbo (piano, organo, sintetizzatori). “Tra Di Noi” è un concept album di otto canzoni riguardanti un sogno inquietante dove i protagonisti nel bordo di un fiume cercano l’albero del male per poterlo eliminare. La copertina dell’album immerge l’ascoltatore in questo mondo colorato fatto di anime perse dove la caparbietà del vegetale nel non voler morire è assidua. L’eterna lotta fra il bene e il male l’abbiamo vista nel tempo anche attraverso album epocali come per esempio quello delle Orme “Felona E Sorona”, la tematica è una delle più trattate in questo contesto Progressivo e pur sempre affascinante. L’album si conclude con un viaggio onirico psichedelico fra il cosmo ed un autobus che rammenta quello storico del “Magical Mystery Tour” dei Beatles. In queste poche righe avete l’opportunità di capire cosa si può ascoltare all’interno di “Tra Di Noi”.
Attraverso “Si Sa Mai Che” appare subito il mondo vintage attraverso voce e tastiere, un intro rafforzato dall’ingresso di un riff potente di chitarra. Ma è l’Hammond a fare il tema, supportato da un interpretazione vocale al limite del recitato. Tanta storia in questi passaggi che razionano deja vu, con il piacere nel gettarsi in fughe strumentali. Tanti Genesis nella parte centrale del brano il quale si evolve nel finale in un andamento roboante ed enfatico.
Ancora la band di Gabriel, quella di “The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway” a fare capolino nell’inizio di “Rivelazione”, primo singolo estratto dall’album.  Non esulano neppure richiami ai vecchi Pink Floyd, loro non possono mai mancare in un disco rivolto agli anni ’70. “Come Allora” è meditativa oltre che vicina alla struttura canzone. Sopraggiunge la breve e ritmata strumentale “Esme” a condurre l’ascolto verso “Cosmofobia Pt.1”, altro movimento non cantato dove le fughe sonore si susseguono fino alla malinconica “Spettro Del Profeta”, decisamente territorio Orme. La band mette in vetrina tutte le proprie caratteristiche nella seconda parte di “Cosmofobia”, ma soprattutto convince nella conclusiva “Bus Carillion”, con addirittura passaggi nel mondo magico dei Gentle Giant.
In senso generale noto punti di congiunzione anche con la band italiana Metamorfosi, questo lo dico a favore di chi ne è a conoscenza.
“Tra Di Noi” può considerarsi un debutto interessante con molte idee giuste ed altre più inflazionate, ma si sa, questo è il genere in questione dove la fantasia non vuole smettere mai di aleggiare sopra ogni cambio umorale. Non resta che godere di questo sound ancora oggi e esclamare ”Lunga vita al Progressive Rock Italiano!”. MS

There is a generational change in the world of Italian Progressive Rock dedicated to the sound of the 1970s, musicians who try their hand at sounds filled with keyboards and tempo changes just like the famous Genesis did, just to name one.
It is commendable this attachment to the times that were, despite the fact that today there are no longer the social contexts to support the trend, this willingness to always keep the torch of so-called cultured Rock alive, gives sometimes even pleasing results.
A debut in this regard is offered to us by Cinema Styge, a band from Milan formed a few years ago by Gianluca Bonelli (vocals, guitar) and Stefano Sabbatino (bass) joined by Luca Montone (drums, percussion) and Andrea Gobbo (piano, organ, synthesizers). "Tra Di Noi" is an eight-song concept album about an eerie dream where the protagonists at the edge of a river search for the tree of evil in order to eliminate it.
The album cover immerses the listener in this colorful world of lost souls where the plant's stubbornness in not wanting to die is assiduous. The eternal struggle between good and evil we have also seen over time through epochal albums such as Orme's "Felona E Sorona," for example, the theme is one of the most dealt with in this Progressive context and yet still fascinating. The album ends with a psychedelic dreamlike journey between the cosmos and a bus reminiscent of the historic one from the Beatles' "Magical Mystery Tour." In these few lines you have the opportunity to understand what can be heard within "Tra Di Noi”.
Through "Non Si Sa Mai Che" the vintage world immediately appears through vocals and keyboards, an intro reinforced by the entrance of a powerful guitar riff. But it is the Hammond that makes the theme, supported by a vocal interpretation bordering on acting. Lots of history in these passages that ration deja vu, with pleasure in throwing oneself into instrumental escapes. Lots of Genesis in the middle part of the song which evolves in the finale into a bombastic and emphatic progression.
Again Gabriel's band, the one from "The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway" to peep through in the beginning of "Rivelazione”, the first single taken from the album.  Nor are there any hints of the old Pink Floyd, they can never be missed on an album aimed at the 1970s. "Come Allora" is meditative as well as close to song structure.
Above comes the short and rhythmic instrumental "Esme" to lead the listening towards "Cosmofobia Pt.1," another unsung movement where sonic escapes follow one another until the melancholy "Spettro Del Profeta," definitely Orme territory. The band showcases all its features in the second part of "Cosmophobia," but especially convinces in the concluding "Bus Carillion," with even passages into the magical world of Gentle Giant.
In a general sense I also notice points of conjunction with the Italian band Metamorphosis, this I say for the benefit of those in the know.
"Tra Di Noi" can be considered an interesting debut with many right ideas and others more overblown, but you know, this is the genre in question where fantasy never wants to stop hovering over every mood change. All that remains is to enjoy this sound to this day and exclaim, "Long live Italian Progressive Rock!" MS
