Se
ci si innamora della musica e si pensa di prendere in mano per la prima volta
uno strumento, spesso ciò accade perchè si resta colpiti da alcune canzoni.
Tutti hanno pagato questo pedaggio, è nella natura delle cose, poi c’è chi è
divenuto famoso e chi meno, resta il fatto che anche grandi artisti amano
cimentarsi in ciò che li ha spinti a suonare. Chiamiamola pure una valvola di
sfogo, oppure il piacere di tornare a certe radici e quando due grandi
musicisti italiani si incontrano e si scambiano queste sensazioni, allora il
risultato è quantomeno piacevole.
Divertente
il caso di Carmine Capasso e Giorgio Fico Piazza (ex PFM), un incontro fra due
generazioni che si ritrovano al cospetto della storia del Rock Progressivo
italiano. Se a tutto questo aggiungiamo che l’album “Vi Suoniamo Una Storia” è
registrato dal vivo, allora noterete che le vibrazioni positive aumenteranno d’intensità.
Ma veniamo agli artisti, Giorgio "Fico" Piazza è lo storico e leggendario bassista della prima
era del Prog italiano assieme alla Premiata Forneria Marconi. Nel
corso della sua lunghissima carriera ha collaborato anche con giganti come
Lucio Battisti e Demetrio Stratos. Carmine Capasso è un chitarrista, cantante e produttore
poliedrico, noto per la sua militanza nella storica band The Trip. Possiede una
forte cifra stilistica che unisce una profonda sensibilità cantautorale a un
virtuosismo chitarristico mai fine a se stesso. Il sodalizio con Piazza nasce
proprio da una forte affinità elettiva e dalla voglia di non far morire la
narrazione vibrante degli anni '60 e '70, riattualizzandola.
Per
farvi capire cosa vi attende, questa è la scaletta musicale: “Neve Nera”, “Una
Valigia Di Perché”, “Enigma”, “Monna Lisa”, “Il Buono, Il Brutto E Il Cattivo”,
“Apache”, “ Una Bambolina che Fa No, No, No” “Il Tempo Di Morire”, “21st
Century Schizoid Man”, “La Carrozza Di Hans”, “Lucky Man”, “Impressioni Di Settembre”,
“È Festa”. Avrete sicuramente notato la varietà di stili che passano dal
cantautorato del grandissimo e mai troppo citato Ivan Graziani (Monna Lisa) o
di Lucio Battisti (Il Tempo Di Morire) al repertorio storico PFM con tre grandi
classici (La Carrozza Di Hans, Impressioni Di Settembre, E’ Festa) e anche un
cenno al pre-PFM con i Quelli di “Una Bambolina Che Fa No, No, No”. Non manca
la musica cinematografica del maestro Ennio Morricone (Il Buono, Il Brutto, Il
Cattivo), la storia del Prog con i King Crimson (21st Century Schizoid Man) o
gli Emerson Lake e Palmer con il classico “Lucky Man”. Un altro brano preso di
mira da molteplici chitarristi è l’intramontabile “Apache” dei The Shadows
(1960), ricordo al riguardo anche una ottima versione dei Rockets. E poi ci
sono brani tratti dall’opera di Carmine Capasso “Assenza Di Gravità” e sono “Neve Nera” e “Una Valigia Di Perché”.
Ciò
che trasuda dai pezzi non è soltanto la tecnica strumentale eccelsa, bensì l’amore
e la dedizione dei due artisti nel vestire questi brani con rispetto e nuova
materia. Basta ascoltare la complessa “La Carrozza Di Hans” per capire bene di
che pasta sono fatti questi signori del Prog.
Si,
Capasso e Piazza ci hanno raccontato una storia e noi l’abbiamo ascoltata sia
nel tempo che oggi dalle loro mani, e allora capisci perché si ama questa
musica immortale. Un disco da possedere per ricordare da dove veniamo e per
avere un buon riassunto della nostra fantastica musica italiana. MS

If you fall in love with music and think about picking
up an instrument for the first time, it often happens because you are struck by
certain songs. Everyone has paid this toll, it is in the nature of things; then
there are those who became famous and those who didn't, but the fact remains
that even great artists love to try their hand at what drove them to play.
Let's call it an outlet, or the pleasure of returning to certain roots, and
when two great Italian musicians meet and exchange these feelings, then the
result is at the very least pleasant.
Amusing is the case of Carmine Capasso and Giorgio
Fico Piazza (formerly of PFM), a meeting between two generations who find themselves
in the presence of the history of Italian Progressive Rock. If we add to all
this that the album “Vi Suoniamo Una Storia” is recorded live, then you will
notice that the positive vibrations increase in intensity.
But let's come to the artists: Giorgio
"Fico" Piazza is the historic and legendary bassist of the first era
of Italian Prog along with Premiata Forneria Marconi. Over the course of his
very long career, he has also collaborated with giants like Lucio Battisti and
Demetrio Stratos. Carmine Capasso is a versatile guitarist, singer, and
producer, known for his militancy in the historic band The Trip. He possesses a
strong stylistic signature that combines a deep singer-songwriter sensibility
with a guitar virtuosity that is never an end in itself. The partnership with
Piazza was born precisely from a strong elective affinity and the desire not to
let the vibrant narrative of the 60s and 70s die, updating it.
From a musical point of view, the live show displays
an incredible chemistry. Capasso's guitar textures and voice rest on the solid,
warm, and unmistakable foundations of Piazza's bass. The band accompanying them
live enriches the sonic fabric with layers of keyboards, hammond, moog, and a
dynamic rhythmic section, typical of symphonic Prog and classic Rock.
