L’uomo necessita di spiritualità per sopperire alla paura della vita, per dare un valore all’esistenza. La fede gioca un ruolo fondamentale, ciò si adatta a ogni tipo di religione che si è creata nel tempo. Il misticismo ha un suono, come accadeva nel medioevo, le parole avevano un ruolo primario e la musica non doveva distrarre dal loro significato, per questo il suono era minimale e molto ripetitivo, in pratica solo un sottofondo su una nenia in cui la parola saliva in cattedra. Con l’avanzare del tempo ovviamente le cose si sono evolute, così la società, tuttavia il misticismo ancora oggi ha un suono ben delineato, più curato e rivolto alla mente. Ho scritto molte volte in altre occasioni che la musica fa stare bene, ma perché è così, vibriamo con essa e rappresenta lo stato d’animo di quel preciso momento.
Se dovete nutrire l’anima il gruppo Enten Hitti è fra i più consigliati.
Si formano nel 1996 da un’idea di Pierangelo Pandiscia e Gino Ape con lo scopo di creare un laboratorio aperto alla ricerca di sonorità elettroniche, musiche rituali, etnica e canzone d’autore. La ricerca atavica sull’origine della musica e dell’arcaico li conduce verso una strada in cui il testo e la poesia sono importantissimi. In più di venticinque anni di attività registrano nove album, e oggi raggiungono quota dieci con il nuovo “Mistiche Ribelli”.
Per il loro credo, fondamentale è la performance dal vivo, così descrivono quest’attività: “Gli Enten Hitti cercano di superare la forma concerto classica a favore dell'installazione sonora e della performance. L'approccio ha una connotazione rituale e si propone di realizzare delle esperienze autentiche nella relazione performer-partecipante.”. Differenti gli scenari in cui si esibiscono che vanno dal teatro ai concerti al buio, oppure Sleeping Concert che si svolge dalla mezzanotte all’alba.
L’ascoltatore è coinvolto non soltanto dalla musica ma anche dai suoni di oggettistica, quindi sono usati pietre, legni, conchiglie, ossa, unghie, semi essiccati etc.
Oggi gli Enten Hitti sono composti da Gino Ape (oboe, flauto, xilofono, piano, voce), Pierangelo Pandiscia (liuto, gong, tromba, percussione), Giampaolo Verga (violino), Carmen D’Onofrio (voce), e Jos Olivini (fisarmonica, hulusi, pianoforte, arpa celtica, table tubes).
Nutrita anche la schiera di special guest che accompagnano il gruppo in questo viaggio mistico.
Il nuovo percorso è delineato da dieci nuove composizioni ricche di suoni e voci preparate a immergere l’ascoltatore in questo contesto. Non un brano si palesa migliore di un altro, tutto è legato da un filo sottile di suoni che si alternano grazie alle strumentazioni policrome utilizzate per lo scopo. La bella voce di Carmen D’Onofrio dona enfasi all’insieme. Passaggi che sfiorano l’ecclesiale fanno presenza in qualche brano, per il resto molta musica etnica a tratti Psichedelica. Alcuni testi sono estrapolati dalla tradizione indiana, alcuni anonimi occitani o tratti dai manoscritti del Mar Morto, o ancora San Francesco D’Assisi. Le registrazioni effettuate all’Hitti House fra il maggio 2023 e l’ottobre 2024 sono ottime, così l’artwork che si presenta in edizione cartonata con l’immagine in copertina di “Onirica”, dipinto su tela di Vito Taddeo.
La musica performativa è un viatico perfetto per condurre l’ascoltatore in un quadro artistico ben definito, coinvolgendolo a pieno titolo in un limbo che solo la mente umana riesce a concepire. L’immersione è propedeutica e gli Enten Hitti lo sanno (e fanno) alla perfezione. MS

Man needs spirituality to make up for the fear of life, to give value to existence. Faith plays a fundamental role, this fits with every kind of religion that has been created over time. Mysticism has a sound, as was the case in the Middle Ages, words played a primary role and music was not supposed to distract from their meaning, so the sound was minimal and very repetitive, basically just a background on a dirge where the word rose to the top. As time has progressed of course things have evolved, so has society, however mysticism still today has a distinct, more polished, mind-facing sound. I have written many times on other occasions that music makes you feel good, but because it does, we vibrate with it and it represents the mood of that precise moment.
If you need to nourish the soul the group Enten Hitti is among the most recommended.
They were formed in 1996 from an idea of Pierangelo Pandiscia and Gino Ape with the purpose of creating an open laboratory for researching electronic sounds, ritual music, ethnic and songwriting. The atavistic search for the origin of music and the archaic leads them to a path where lyrics and poetry are very important. In more than twenty-five years of activity they record nine albums, and today they reach ten with the new “Mistiche Ribelli”.
For their credo, fundamental is live performance, this is how they describe this activity, “Enten Hitti seek to overcome the classical concert form in favor of sound installation and performance. The approach has a ritual connotation and aims to realize authentic experiences in the performer-participant relationship”. Different scenarios in which they perform range from theater to concerts in the dark, or Sleeping Concert that takes place from midnight to dawn.
The listener is involved not only by the music but also by the sounds of objects, so stones, woods, shells, bones, nails, dried seeds etc. are used.
Today Enten Hitti consists of Gino Ape (oboe, flute, xylophone, piano, voice), Pierangelo Pandiscia (lute, gong, trumpet, percussion), Giampaolo Verga (violin), Carmen D'Onofrio (voice), and Jos Olivini (accordion, hulusi, piano, Celtic harp, table tubes).
Also nourished is the lineup of special guests accompanying the group on this mystical journey.
The new journey is outlined by ten new compositions full of sounds and voices prepared to immerse the listener in this context. Not one track stands out better than another, everything is linked by a thin thread of sounds that alternate thanks to the polychrome instrumentation used for the purpose. Carmen D'Onofrio's beautiful voice lends emphasis to the whole.
Passages bordering on the ecclesial make a presence in a few tracks, for the rest much ethnic music at times Psychedelic. Some lyrics are extrapolated from the Indian tradition, some anonymous Occitan or taken from the Dead Sea manuscripts, or even St. Francis of Assisi. The recordings made at Hitti House between May 2023 and October 2024 are excellent, so is the artwork, which comes in a hardback edition with the cover image of “Onirica”, a canvas painting by Vito Taddeo.
The performance music is a perfect viaticum to lead the listener into a well-defined artistic framework, fully involving them in a limbo that only the human mind can conceive. Immersion is propaedeutic, and Enten Hitti know (and do) this to perfection. MS
