Anch’io, “da che tempo è tempo”, ho amato i Reale Accademia Di Musica di Pericle Sponzilli in maniera smisurata. Sono molto legato a quel capolavoro datato 1972 dal titolo omonimo, anche se ho provato altresì grandi emozioni in tempi più recenti con album come “Angeli Mutanti” (2018) e “Lame Di Luce” (2022); tuttavia è la discografia completa di sette album in studio che mi ha sempre saputo entusiasmare. Il perché è semplice, la musica proposta ha sempre curato molto la parte melodica delle composizioni ed è stata perfettamente bilanciata con la tecnica che il Progressive Rock generalmente richiede.
Grazie al minuzioso lavoro delle edizioni musicali Micio Poldo, oggi possiamo godere di un'altra piccola gemma sonora, mirata soprattutto a chi fa della musica un culto. “Da Che Tempo E’ Tempo” è un 12" a 33 giri di colore rosso che contiene due brani: “Da Che Tempo E’ Tempo”, una mini suite di nove minuti composta da Sponzilli con testi di Massimo Altomare, e “Favola”, canzone del primo album qui rivisitata in una nuova veste. La formazione è completata da Elio Volpini al basso e dal purtroppo recentemente scomparso Walter Martino (batteria), al quale viene dedicato il disco. In Giappone uscirà invece un CD con questi due pezzi come bonus tracks, assieme al meglio degli ultimi due album della Reale Accademia di Musica, “Angeli Mutanti” e “Lame di Luce”.
Riascoltare “Favola” con sonorità così cristalline è una forte emozione, così come la voce toccante di Sponzilli. Un grande classico senza tempo e ora senza polvere.
Ma veniamo al piatto forte dell’EP, “Da Che Tempo E’ Tempo”: esso è il sunto di quello che il Progressive Rock ci ha insegnato in oltre cinquant’anni di storia e, come ho anticipato in precedenza, è attento alle melodie di facile memorizzazione.
“E’ una scelta il tempo….” Bella visione di ciò che inesorabilmente passa e se ne va. Buone le parti di chitarra e quando sopraggiungono su di esse i synth, allora lo scenario si fa ampio e strutturato. La vera poesia non ha fretta, si concede il lusso di nove minuti di pura magia per fermare il tempo stesso.

I too, "since time immemorial," have immensely loved Pericle Sponzilli's Reale Accademia Di Musica. I am deeply attached to that 1972 self-titled masterpiece, although I have also experienced great emotions in more recent times with albums like “Angeli Mutanti” (2018) and “Lame Di Luce” (2022); nevertheless, it is their complete discography of seven studio albums that has always managed to thrill me. The reason is simple: the music they offer has always focused heavily on the melodic side of the compositions, perfectly balanced with the technical proficiency that Progressive Rock generally demands.
Thanks to the meticulous work of Micio Poldo music publishing, today we can enjoy another small sonic gem, aimed especially at those who treat music as a cult. “Da Che Tempo E’ Tempo” is a 12" 33 rpm red vinyl containing two tracks: “Da Che Tempo E’ Tempo”, a nine-minute mini-suite composed by Sponzilli with lyrics by Massimo Altomare, and “Favola”, a song from their first album, here revisited in a new guise. The line-up is completed by Elio Volpini on bass and the unfortunately recently deceased Walter Martino (drums), to whom the record is dedicated. In Japan, instead, a CD will be released featuring these two pieces as bonus tracks, alongside the best of the last two albums by Reale Accademia di Musica, “Angeli Mutanti” and “Lame di Luce”.
Listening to “Favola” again with such crystalline soundscapes is a powerful emotion, as is Sponzilli's touching voice. A great timeless classic, now dusted off and pristine.
But let's get to the main course of the EP, “Da Che Tempo E’ Tempo”: it is the epitome of what Progressive Rock has taught us over more than fifty years of history and, as I mentioned earlier, it is highly attentive to easily memorable melodies.
“E’ una scelta il tempo….” (Time is a choice...) A beautiful vision of what inexorably passes and fades away. The guitar parts are good, and when the synths layer over them, the soundscape becomes wide and beautifully structured. True poetry is never in a hurry; it allows itself the luxury of nine minutes of pure magic to freeze time itself.
For your curiosity, the tracks included in the Japanese CD will be ten, while the artwork and graphics are by OndemediE.
