INNER PROSPEKT - Solid Glass Structure
Autoproduzione
Genere: Crossover Prog
Supporto: CD / Digital - 2026

MS

The one-man band modus operandi is gaining more and more ground, and Italy boasts numerous representatives of this approach. One of the most prolific in the Progressive Rock realm is Alessandro Di Benedetti, who reaches his fifteenth studio milestone under his Inner Prospekt project with “Solid Glass Structure”. Alessandro Di Benedetti is an Italian composer, keyboardist, multi-instrumentalist, and singer who has been active on the scene for years, notably known for his long-standing role in Mad Crayon and his fruitful collaboration with the international collective The Samurai Of Prog.
Through the Inner Prospekt project, Di Benedetti expresses his most personal musical vision, taking care of almost every production and performance aspect. In addition to composing the tracks, he plays keyboards (with a preference for analog sounds, organs, and Banksian/neo-prog style synths), programs and plays drums, handles sampling, and performs vocals. In his works, he frequently collaborates with trusted guitarists and bassists—including Rafael Pacha, Federico Tetti, Carmine Capasso, Marco Bernard, and Daniele Vitalone—to enrich the texture of the arrangements.
Thematically, the album develops a conceptual framework around the idea of a "solid glass structure"—a soundscape and lyrical architecture that is seemingly transparent yet rigid, reflective, and exposed to internal fractures.
Seven tracks offer over an hour of music, starting with “Unbelievable Times”, where the author reflects on the sense of bewilderment and disbelief in the face of contemporary absurdities and the loss of stable reference points. Di Benedetti's vocals sit somewhere between the 1970s Gabriel-esque tradition and our own Bernardo Lanzetti. The track is dynamic, driven by keyboards over a tight rhythm, blending crossover-style melodic lines with synthetic arpeggios and a modern sound.
“From Midnight To Dawn” is the album's first suite, enriched by Federico Tetti's guitar work. The structure is incremental, moving from atmospheric textures into an extended symphonic arrangement featuring time signature changes and expansive keyboard solos. Interesting vintage passages intersect with more modern elements, creating an enjoyable and smooth-flowing listening experience.
Another twelve-minute suite is “Ordinary Man”, featuring Marco Bernard's warm bassline. The lyrics analyze the figure of the everyday man, crushed by daily routine, social conventions, and the search for individual redemption. Musically, the track is expansive, embellished with backing counter-vocals, and alternates jazz-rock piano sections with odd-meter rhythmic accents and synthesizer runs. A great listen!
“Mrs. Braies” opens with heartfelt, melancholy piano and Rafael Pacha's guitar weaving around organ and piano textures. Full of classicism and heart, it stands out as one of the album's highest points.
A track with a bolder character, supported by Carmine Capasso's guitar and Daniele Vitalone's bass, is “You Call Me Mad”, in which the author explores the perspective of someone labeled as "mad" simply for viewing reality through a different lens or rejecting social conformity.
Next comes the instrumental “Old Tune for Old Keys”, where a relaxing melody takes center stage thanks to Di Benedetti's keen compositional instincts. The piece is primarily built around vintage keyboards (Mellotron, electric piano, and analog timbres).
The third and final suite, “My Dark”, is the longest, concluding the album with seventeen minutes of varied movements that shift from airy, ethereal openings to Dark Prog passages, leading into sweeping choral and symphonic sections.
In summary, “Solid Glass Structure” is a brilliant signature work, supported by impeccable songwriting and a wise use of vintage keyboards and synthesizers. Alessandro Di Benedetti proves once again that melodic sensitivity and technical expertise can coexist seamlessly. An elegant, inspired, and mature album.
