educate all’ascolto.
rimandando all'eco di terre e tempi lontani.
Daniele
Scardovi è un musicista e polistrumentista romagnolo (area Bellaria-Igea Marina
/ Rimini).
I
Persino i Pink Floyd
ne hanno fatto un'opera senza tempo. Il fascino dell’ignoto.
“Ti
ponderate e intimiste, piccola perla dell’intero album.
MS

SCARDOVI – Controcorrente

We are the music, vibrating in everyday life, born
listening for nine months to the rhythm of the heart in our mother’s
womb—sensitive souls more or less educated in the art of listening. There are
those who feel the need to listen to it, and those who feel the need to create
it, if only for the personal pleasure of expressing themselves in this
universal language that simply makes us feel good.
The genre one undertakes is not what matters—each of
us has a personal preference—what matters is the result: emotion.
Daniele Scardovi is among those who feel the need to
express their essence through the vibration of strings, also to give voice to
memories, echoing distant lands and times.
Daniele Scardovi is a musician and
multi-instrumentalist from Romagna (Bellaria-Igea Marina / Rimini area).
Although active in the local and educational music scene (including the
promotion of youth projects and ensemble collaborations such as the Caramatta
Quartet), he belongs to a predominantly underground and independent circuit.
“Controcorrente” is his debut album, consisting of
fourteen instrumental tracks developed mainly around acoustic and intimate
coordinates, with a prominent use of the Irish bouzouki paired with guitar
arpeggios. Within the artist's DNA, one can also extract influences of blues,
Celtic music, and 1970s rock.
The listener is immediately captured by the spoken
introduction of “Il Vento Dei Ricordi,” which acts as an entryway to the
acoustic journey where Scardovi serves as Cicero. The sonic path officially
begins with the title track “Controcorrente” and its bright arpeggios of clear
Mediterranean origin: a melody that sticks in your mind, leaving its
representation to imagination and watercolor tones.
The Irish bouzouki offers a madrigal-like flow in
“Lacrime,” an introspective movement rich in detail, where even the pauses
become part of the overall piece. Touching is “Canzone Per Mio Padre”: believe
me, it is no easy task to give sound to such personal feelings and share them
with the public; Scardovi, however, expresses himself at his best, as if he
were alone in front of his parent. I greatly appreciate this display of
personal delicacy.
Memories emerge forcefully in “Viaggio In Europa” as
well, a more rhythmic movement with intricate details to be uncovered through
attentive listening.
“Effimero” is reflective yet brilliant in its
heightened melancholy, underlined by background string sounds. As it
progresses, small rays of sunshine peek through. The music offered is a summary
of who we are, with naturalness, spontaneity, and history—the same history that
also emerges strongly from the Oriental-flavored “Maa Kali.”
Delicate arpeggios declare the gentleness of “La
Faccia Nascosta Della Luna”: how many times have we gazed at it and fantasized
about it? Even Pink Floyd turned it into a timeless masterpiece. The allure of
the unknown.
“Ti Aspettavo” taps once again into the past while
dripping thoughtful and intimate notes—a small gem within the album.
Silence is music too, so I reiterate the importance of
pauses—those that slow the pace of a track while heightening the emotional
pathos of the listening experience. This happens in “Nell’Aria,” proving that
music truly is a universal language where the emotions of the composer and the
listener merge into one.
“Canzone Per Un Piccolo Fiore” is not merely a display
of the artist's technical skill, but a showcase of his compositional capability
worth reflecting upon. Then comes “Carillon,” nomen omen in a
medieval-tinged passage to ponder.
The final stretch belongs to “Segui La Marea,” where
the instrument almost seems to sing, and to “Controcorrente (Reprise),” a
natural closing of the circle.
Connecting back to what was said at the beginning, the
success of a work is not measured by current trends or the complexity of
genres, but by its ability to generate emotion. In this respect, Daniele
Scardovi’s debut hits the mark perfectly: “Controcorrente” is not just a
beautifully crafted instrumental album, but a true sonic diary. A spontaneous
and refined debut work that confirms how artistic independence remains, even
today, the most fertile ground for true poetry in music. MS
