Marco "Zeus" Marchetti è un chitarrista, compositore e polistrumentista italiano noto principalmente per la sua attività nel panorama Rock Progressivo e nella musica strumentale d'atmosfera. L'album “Sea Lands” si presenta come un viaggio concettuale ed esplorativo legato all'elemento marittimo, alle rotte verso terre inesplorate e alla solitudine del marinaio. Con una durata complessiva snella ma priva di momenti riempitivi, il disco fonde Folk, Progressive Rock e delicate sfumature ambientali.
Ne è subito prova la title track “Sea Lands”, composizione basata soprattutto sulla chitarra elettrica e con un dolce momento finale di piano, un vero e proprio scatto fotografico del paesaggio marino da cui scaturiscono serenità e bellezza.
“Terra Australis” ha un ritmo sostenuto ma mai invasivo, d'altronde una delle caratteristiche della musica di Marchetti è proprio la calma, in cui si evincono le lezioni del passato, specialmente quelle dei Camel.
Le onde si infrangono sulla spiaggia in “Pacific Waves”, brano al limite del Funky dove la chitarra introduce inizialmente il refrain per poi lasciare il ruolo di protagoniste alle tastiere. Non manca, comunque, un assolo di chitarra tecnico ma mai autoreferenziale.
La protagonista resta infatti la melodia, apprezzabile maggiormente nell’ottima “The Sailor”. Piccole schegge Neo Prog si affacciano di tanto in tanto, mentre l’andamento si mantiene pacato e riflessivo.
Il ritmo sale in “Kangaroo”, traccia dal sound spiccatamente anni ’80, altro tassello in cui tastiere e chitarra dialogano senza mai togliersi spazio a vicenda.
Nel mare ci si imbatte persino in un delfino nero, a cui Marchetti dà forma sonora in “Black Dolphin”, uno dei momenti migliori dell’intero album. All’ascolto si ha la sensazione che la chitarra dia voce effettiva al mammifero, rilasciando di tanto in tanto una sorta di sibilo.
La chiusura spetta a “Sea Lands Reprise”, una perfetta chiusura del cerchio in cui le atmosfere diventano cinematiche grazie all’uso di tastiere evocative.
In appena venticinque minuti, “Sea Lands” riesce a condensare un’esperienza d’ascolto immersiva e priva di fronzoli, confermando l'attitudine di Marco "Zeus" Marchetti per la creazione di veri e propri paesaggi emozionali. Rinunciando alla parola cantata per affidarsi completamente al potere narrativo del suono, l'album si adagia con equilibrio tra le sfumature della chitarra Rock e la fascinazione per l'ignoto, offrendo un viaggio sonoro breve ma denso di atmosfera. Un ascolto consigliato a chi ama perdersi in territori musicali contemplativi e a chi cerca nella musica strumentale una colonna sonora per le proprie rotte interiori. Tanta serenità. MS

The waves crash onto the beach in “Pacific Waves”, a track bordering on Funky where the guitar initially introduces the refrain before leaving center stage to the keyboards. However, there is no shortage of a technical yet never self-indulgent guitar solo.
Indeed, melody remains the true protagonist, best appreciated in the excellent “The Sailor”. Small splinters of Neo-Prog surface from time to time, while the pace remains calm and reflective throughout.
The tempo picks up in “Kangaroo”, a track with a distinctly '80s sound, another piece where keyboards and guitar engage in a dialogue without ever crowding each other out.
In the sea, one even encounters a black dolphin, to which Marchetti gives musical form in “Black Dolphin”, one of the finest moments of the entire album. Upon listening, one gets the feeling that the guitar gives actual voice to the mammal, releasing a sort of hiss every now and then.
The closing falls to “Sea Lands Reprise”, a perfect full-circle moment where the atmospheres turn cinematic thanks to the use of evocative keyboards.
In just twenty-five minutes, “Sea Lands” manages to condense an immersive and no-frills listening experience, confirming Marco "Zeus" Marchetti's knack for creating true emotional landscapes. By renouncing the sung word to rely entirely on the narrative power of sound, the album settles comfortably between the nuances of Rock guitar and the fascination with the unknown, offering a brief yet atmosphere-dense musical journey.
