Se il nostro Rock Progressivo ha ricevuto sin dagli anni ’70 attenzioni anche all’estero grazie alle note band come Premiata Forneria Marconi, Orme e Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso su tutte, sino giungere ai nostri giorni ancora vivo e vegeto, allora di base significa che si è saputo creare qualcosa di veramente valido. Anche questi nomi particolari come Raccomandata Ricevuta Ritorno, Biglietto Per L’Inferno, Rovescio Della Medaglia etc. conducono un fans del genere a capire che trattasi di Rock Progressivo, un modus operandi che difficilmente fallisce l’obiettivo. Questa (chiamiamola così) tradizione, è valida sino ai nostri giorni, leggere un nome come Limite Acque Sicure conduce immediatamente la mente a questo mondo fatto di cambi di tempo e di lunghi brani ricolmi di tastiere.
La band di Ferrara nasce proprio come band tributo al Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso, Orme e Premiata Forneria Marconi nel 2005, ma esordiscono nel 2022 con l’ottimo album omonimo che vi consiglio di andare a rispolverare. Il sestetto formato da Andrea Chendi (voce), Ambra Bianchi (flauto, voce, arpa), Antonello Giovannelli (tastiere), Luca Trabanelli (chitarre), Paolo Bolognesi (batteria), e Francesco Gigante (basso), proseguono imperterriti dopo due anni per il loro incontaminato cammino.
Attraverso personaggi che raccontano la propria esperienza di vita, “Un’Altra Mano Di Carte” tocca persino tematiche politiche, argomento non molto trattato in quest’ambito sonoro, a testimonianza di un impegno lirico sicuramente non scontato su cui poter riflettere.
Sono gli otto minuti e mezzo di “Joker” a mettere immediatamente in chiaro l’intento della band, un intreccio di chitarre elettriche e tastiere che formano un muro sonoro enfatico su cui lasciare andare la mente. Passato e presente si fondono in un gioco piacevole che farà sin da subito la gioia degli estimatori del Prog. Ottimo l’uso delle coralità maschili e femminili che si alternano a passaggi di piano maggiormente riflessivi. I Limite Acque Sicure mostrano sin da subito la volontà di non scendere a compromessi, rispettando tutti i canoni del caso.
Ulteriore conferma giunge da “Il Racconto Di Juan Della Sua Terra” dove i fiati riportano al medioevo per poi lasciare campo alla classica staffetta chitarra/tastiere. Buona la sezione ritmica, raffinata e mai invadente. Qui le Orme sono maggiormente presenti, un brano fresco su cui poter cantare con loro.
“Natale 1914” ha un fascino particolare, questa mini suite di dieci minuti alterna ballata alla Banco (R.I.P.) a passaggi in modalità Genesis, il tutto costruito su testi profondi e riflessivi accompagnati dalla splendida vocalità di Ambra Bianchi. Il meglio giunge nel finale attraverso una centellinata nota di piano sgocciolata sopra un arpeggio di chitarra toccante, dove ancora una volta fanno capolino le Orme, grazie anche alla bella voce di Andrea Chendi. “Non Il Bergerac” prosegue questo sentiero con classe, un tuffo nella metà degli anni ’70. “Chita” ha uno charme esotico ammaliante, suadente e commovente come lo sguardo di una donna mediterranea che ha scolpita negli occhi la durezza della propria vita. Ancora una volta ottima l’interpretazione di Ambra Bianchi. Finale degno con “Storie Perdute”, vigorosità Trip miscelata al Prog più moderno.
Non finirò mai di ringraziare e decantare le gesta di band come i Limite Acque Sicure, portabandiera di uno stile che fra alti e bassi di notorietà sembra distante dal voler porre la parola fine alla propria esistenza. Viva il Prog italiano! MS

If our Progressive Rock has received since the 1970s attention even abroad thanks to well-known bands such as Premiata Forneria Marconi, Orme and Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso above all, until reaching our days still alive and well, then basically it means that something really good has been created. Even these particular names such as Raccomandata Ricevuta Ritorno, Biglietto Per L'Inferno, Rovescio Della Medaglia etc. lead a fan of the genre to understand that this is Progressive Rock, a modus operandi that is unlikely to fail the mark. This (let's call it that) tradition, is valid up to our days, reading a name like Limite Acque Sicure immediately leads the mind to this world of tempo changes and long tracks filled with keyboards.
The band from Ferrara was born precisely as a tribute band to Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso, Orme and Premiata Forneria Marconi in 2005, but they made their debut in 2022 with the excellent self-titled album that I recommend you go brush up on. The sextet made up of Andrea Chendi (vocals), Ambra Bianchi (flute, vocals, harp), Antonello Giovannelli (keyboards), Luca Trabanelli (guitars), Paolo Bolognesi (drums), and Francesco Gigante (bass), continue undaunted after two years on their pristine path.
Through characters recounting their own life experiences, “Un’Altra Mano Di Carte” even touches on political themes, a topic not much dealt with in this sonic sphere, a testament to a lyrical commitment that is certainly not obvious to ponder.
It is the eight-and-a-half minutes of “Joker” that immediately make the band's intent clear, an interweaving of electric guitars and keyboards that form an emphatic wall of sound on which to let your mind go. Past and present come together in a pleasing interplay that will immediately delight Prog fans. Excellent use of male and female choruses alternating with more reflective piano passages. The Limiting Safe Waters show right from the start a willingness not to compromise, respecting all the relevant canons.
Further confirmation comes from “Il Racconto Di Juan Della Sua Terra” (Juan's Tale Of His Land) where the horns bring back the Middle Ages and then give way to the classic guitar/keyboard relay. Good rhythm section, refined and never intrusive. Here the Orme are more present, a fresh track to sing along to.
“Natale 1914” has a special charm, this ten-minute mini-suite alternating Banco-esque balladry (R.I.P.) with passages in Genesis mode, all built on deep and reflective lyrics accompanied by Ambra Bianchi's splendid vocals. The best comes in the finale through a centered piano note dripped over a touching guitar arpeggio, where once again Orme peeps out, thanks also to Andrea Chendi's beautiful voice. “Not Il Bergerac” continues this path with class, a dip into the mid-1970s. “Chita” has a bewitching exotic charm, as persuasive and moving as the gaze of a Mediterranean woman who has the harshness of her life carved into her eyes. Once again Ambra Bianchi's performance is excellent. Worthy finale with “Storie Perdute”, Trip vigor mixed with the most modern Prog.
I will never cease to thank and extol the exploits of bands like Limite Acque Sicure, standard-bearers of a style that among the ups and downs of notoriety seems far from wanting to put an end to its existence. Long live Italian Prog! MS
