Esiste un sottosuolo musicale non visibile ai molti ma che è la gioia di un fans sfegatato di una determinata band. Quando si ama un artista o una band si cerca ogni articolo, foto o disco che li possa rappresentare in ogni momento della loro carriera. Questo succede a chi ama il supporto fisico del disco, per intenderci a un collezionista o a un vecchio ascoltatore di musica, meno a chi usufruisce oggi della musica liquida anche se in alcuni casi anch'essa riesce nell'intento di regalare alcune emozioni altrimenti introvabili. E’ il campo illegale dei bootlegs, registrazioni non autorizzate dalle band di qualche concerto o presentazioni radiofoniche (broadcast) se non demo e quant'altro. Chi le mette in circolazione? Chi le registra?  Solitamente queste sono fatte da un tecnico al mixer (soundboard), si prende collegando un registratore al tape out del mixer.
Quindi, quello che si ascolta è quello che esce dalle casse, la qualità sonora è abbastanza buona e pulita. Poi esistono registrazioni più scadenti realizzate attraverso un registratore fra il pubblico o un telefonino, ma questo al fans poco interessa, l’importante è congelare l’evento in un supporto che possa essere un nastro cassetta, un file o quello che è al caso, così da renderlo personalmente immortale. Detto questo, si può immaginare la vastità di quest’universo per ogni artista. La caccia al concerto ben registrato o storico per alcuni eventi che accadono al proprio interno (errori di esecuzione, versioni differenti di un brano se non addirittura un’anteprima di un pezzo poi scartato dalla band e quindi mai stampato, il famigerato inedito) è sterminata. Più nota è la band e maggiori sono i bootlegs. Essi si trovano anche in qualche negozio di dischi, in formato sia cd che vinilico, ovviamente hanno un mercato in cui i prezzi vengono stilati davvero a casaccio, alcuni possono costare pochi spicci di euro, altre centinaia, non esiste una vera e propria regola se non quella della richiesta del pubblico, un vero far west. Anche il sito mondiale “Discogs” è stato costretto a togliere dalle vendite proprio i bootlegs, anche perché come ho accennato all'inizio, sono registrazioni non autorizzate. I nomi degli artisti sono inutili da stilare in quanto a questo modus operandi ci sono caduti tutti dentro, il mondo poi dell’Heavy Metal e del Progressive Rock ha davvero una rappresentativa sterminata al riguardo. Ho voluto mettere una lista di registrazioni riguardanti proprio una delle formazioni più importanti al mondo e qui la potrete leggere, considerate poi che non è neppure completa, vista la sterminata quantità di materiale che circola, comunque sia rende bene l’idea di quanto accade in questo sottosuolo.
Loro sono i PINK FLOYD e per avere fisicamente tutto quello che leggerete qui, sotto servirebbe un portafoglio davvero bello gonfio, agli altri posso dire di cercare i file nel web se siete curiosi, ma anche in questo caso serve un bell’hard disk non di gigabyte ma di terabyte. Il buon You Tube può venire incontro in numerosi casi, ma ovviamente non in tutti. Per finire lascio alla vostra curiosità e se avete qualche domanda e posso rispondere, inviatemela nei commenti.
