Per molti artisti e ascoltatori di oggi, l’amore rivolto a un certo tipo di musica anni ’70 non si è mai sopito. L’Italia specialmente si è saputa distinguere per qualità nell’ambito Rock Progressivo, grazie alle sonorità mediterranee che hanno saputo aggiungere solarità alle composizioni rendendole di gran lunga melodiche rispetto a quelle di altre nazioni. Di certo la tecnica non è da meno, specialmente se andiamo a considerare il lato più Jazz delle contaminazioni, ecco quindi che il Rock cosiddetto “colto” ha sempre un qualcosa d’interessante da elargire. Questo preambolo sta a significare che se una cosa è fatta bene, dura nel tempo.
Una band recente che si è saputa fare apprezzare non soltanto in Italia, porta il nome di Aliante. Si forma a Coltano nel 2017 e immediatamente da in pasto al pubblico l’album “Forme Libere” (2017 - M.P. Records) con il quale si mette subito in buona luce. Infatti, la musica proposta raccoglie il meglio del Prog italiano, ed è completamente strumentale. Alle tastiere ha suonato Enrico Filippi sino al secondo album intitolato “Sul Confine” (2019 - M.P. & Records), per poi lasciare e intraprendere nuove avventure sonore. Il suo risultato odierno porta il nome di Teodicea, un trio completato da Giacomo Putrino (batteria e percussioni) e Jacopo Morandi (basso).
Teodicea è una branca della filosofia teologica che studia il rapporto tra la giustizia di Dio e la presenza nel mondo del male, un messaggio forte per descrivere la strada musicale da intraprendere. Essa si adopera come una colonna sonora cinematografica grazie soprattutto alla cura degli arrangiamenti, mentre i suoni di questo debutto intitolato “Il Mondo Esausto” vanno a raccontare, attraverso le note, le sensazioni che proviamo quotidianamente nella vita. Proprio per questo le nove composizioni dell’album sono pregne di cambi umorali, variabili dall’euforia alla frustrazione.
La copertina di Luca Di Pietro descrive perfettamente le arie che si possono incontrare durante l’ascolto, un trasporto che solleva anima e corpo. L’artwork è opera di OndemediE.
Le prime note di “777” mettono immediatamente in evidenza le tastiere e quell’amore atavico a cui ho fatto riferimento in precedenza per questa musica intramontabile di nome Prog Rock, qui assolutamente di matrice Genesis e Orme.
I più ferrati di voi sobbalzeranno alla lettura del titolo del secondo brano, ossia “Gioia E Risoluzione”, un chiaro richiamo a quel “Gioia E Rivoluzione” degli intramontabili Area, in realtà nulla a che fare strumentalmente con esso. Un dolce pianoforte apre per poi lasciare spazio al refrain più ritmato e successivamente al ruggente Hammond. La melodia di base è davvero accattivante.
La batteria di Putrino introduce “L’Ineluttabile”, altro tuffo nel passato con sfumature malinconiche e intramontabili. L’incedere crescente fa spaziare la fantasia verso differenti stati d’animo, unici per ognuna della nostra personalità ed esperienza. E si entra nell’introspezione attraverso “Weltschmerz”, brano toccante che allo stesso tempo riesce a stampare nella mente un refrain ipnotico; ottima vetrina per le qualità dell’insieme. L’ascolto acquista ampiezza attraverso “Ripresa Di Coscienza” un disegno in acquarello, dove i colori sembrano sbiaditi dal tempo. Moody Blues? Procol Harum? Non saprei, questi i nomi che mi sono tornati in mente durante l’ascolto.
Il basso in arpeggio di Morandi apre “Intro 442”, una sorta di ninna nanna che sembra ispirata dai Marillion era Fish. In “Lofoten” scorrono alcuni brividi sulla pelle, la dolcezza del piano ha un qualcosa di magico scaturito dal delicato tocco di Filippi, questo è uno dei brani che ho apprezzato maggiormente. Una puntata verso il Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso e nel Jazz non poteva mancare, ci pensa “Punto Di Fusione” a tappare la falla, mentre la conclusiva “Il Viaggio Del Moro” ancora una volta ci lancia nelle lande della fantasia eterea.
Considero “Il Mondo Esausto” una piacevole sorpresa, soprattutto per la qualità delle composizioni che toccano vari stati d’animo e differenti lassi di tempo, lasciando alla fine dell’ascolto la volontà di ripremere il tasto play. Complimenti. MS

For many artists and listeners today, the love directed toward a certain kind of 70s music has never died down. Italy especially has been able to distinguish itself for quality in the Progressive Rock sphere, thanks to the Mediterranean sounds that have been able to add sunniness to the compositions making them far more melodic than those of other nations. Certainly the technique is not to be outdone, especially if we go to consider the more Jazz side of the contaminations, so here is that the so-called “cultured” Rock always has something interesting to bestow. This preamble stands to mean that if something is done well, it lasts.
A recent band that has been able to make itself appreciated not only in Italy bears the name Aliante. It formed in Coltano in 2017 and immediately fed to the public the album “Forme Libere” (2017 - M.P. Records) with which it immediately put itself in a good light. In fact, the music on offer gathers the best of Italian Prog, and is completely instrumental. On keyboards Enrico Filippi played until the second album entitled “Sul Confine” (2019 - M.P. & Records), and then left and embarked on new sound adventures. His achievement today bears the name Teodicea, a trio completed by Giacomo Putrino (drums and percussion) and Jacopo Morandi (bass).
Teodicea is a branch of theological philosophy that studies the relationship between God's righteousness and the presence in the world of evil, a strong message to describe the musical path to take. It is employed as a cinematic soundtrack thanks mainly to the care of the arrangements, while the sounds of this debut entitled “Il Mondo Esausto” go to tell, through notes, the feelings we experience daily in life. For this very reason, the album's nine compositions are filled with mood changes, varying from euphoria to frustration.
The cover artwork by Luca Di Pietro perfectly describes the tunes one may encounter while listening, a transport that lifts body and soul. The artwork is by OndemediE.
The first notes of “777” immediately bring out the keyboards and that atavistic love I referred to earlier for this timeless music named Prog Rock, here absolutely Genesis and Orme-esque.
The more fervent of you will jolt at the reading of the title of the second track, namely “Gioia E Risoluzione”, a clear reference to that “Gioia E Rivoluzione” by the timeless Area, actually nothing to do instrumentally with it.
A gentle piano opens and then gives way to the more rhythmic refrain followed by the roaring Hammond. The basic melody is really catchy.
Putrino's drums introduce “L’Ineluttabile”, another dip into the past with melancholy, timeless overtones. The rising pacing makes the imagination sweep to different moods, unique to each of our personality and experience. And we enter introspection through “Weltschmerz,” a touching track that at the same time manages to print a hypnotic refrain in the mind; an excellent showcase for the qualities of the whole. Listening gains breadth through “Riprendere Di Conscienza” a watercolor drawing, where the colors seem faded by time. Moody Blues? Procol Harum? I don't know, these were the names that came to mind while listening.
Morandi's arpeggio bass opens “Intro 442”, a kind of lullaby that seems inspired by Marillion era Fish. In “Lofoten” some chills run over the skin, the sweetness of the piano has something magical triggered by Filippi's delicate touch, this is one of the tracks I enjoyed the most. A punt toward Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso and into jazz could not be missed, “Punto Di Fusione” takes care of plugging the hole, while the concluding “Il Viaggio Del Moro” once again launches us into the moors of ethereal fantasy.
I consider “Il Mondo Esausto” a pleasant surprise, especially for the quality of the compositions that touch on various moods and different time lapses, leaving at the end of the listening the desire to press the play button again. Congratulations. MS
