Il cantautorato Rock italiano ha avuto negli anni rappresentanti degni di notorietà, la musica spesso per questi artisti è stata più da sostegno alle parole che viceversa. Un personaggio che fa delle sue particolarità vocali non convenzionali il punto di forza oggi è Francesco Chiummento. Ci pone una lezione nel non mettere limiti per la paura di non essere capito o apprezzato. La passione travalica ogni ostacolo. L’amore per la musica è un energia difficile da domare, per questo va espressa senza filtri innaturali e con convinzione. I risultati potranno essere più o meno compresi, ma di certo trasferiranno a chi ascolta l’energia del pensiero che mai dovrà essere castrato al volere degli altri.
Francesco Chiummento si definisce un sognatore, e forse lo siamo un po’ tutti, poi c’è chi i sogni li ascolta e chi li cela. La fragilità umana tende spesso a frenare l’istinto per paura di uscire troppo allo scoperto e di mettere a nudo le parti più fragili e sensibili del nostro essere, dandole in pasto alle persone, ma questo poco importa.
Chiummento inizia il percorso artistico nel 1997 con la band Rock  i Forza Maggiore, nel 2001 vince il premio della critica al “Premio Ciampi” di Livorno, e oggi sotto la supervisione del direttore artistico Alex Catania e del sempre fidato amico strumentista Paolo Ricca, torna dopo l’esordio intitolato “Delirio” (2016). Seguono “Segnali di Pace” (2018), “Il Viaggio” (2020), e “The Story Of Daniel/Resilience” (2022).
Nella musica proposta si evince la ricerca strutturale, l’amore per il connubio suono/natura, oltre che la ferrea convinzione nel sostenere la pace nel mondo, frase apparentemente scontata ma mai ascoltata nella realtà di tutti i giorni causa l’avidità dell’uomo.
In “The Dreamer” ci sono dodici canzoni impegnate nella ricerca che in alcuni frangenti travalica nella sperimentazione. Il suo flauto accompagna l’ascolto verso sentieri più tranquilli, riportando lo stato d’animo dell’ascoltatore in territori più rassicuranti. Attraverso la graffiante ed elettrica “Andare Verso” si comprendono immediatamente gli intenti dell’autore, l’interpretazione vocale è sentita, al limite del recitato su metriche non prestabilite e una musica orecchiabile grazie all’uso delle tastiere che traggono spunto dalla fine degli anni ’70. Aria più serena in “Primavera”, questa volta nelle tastiere fanno capolino Le Orme. Chiummento si rivolge ai giovani consigliando loro di lottare per la vita, una nuova primavera deve nascere. Bello il dolce intro pianistico accompagnato dal flauto in “Confusione”, qui si possono maggiormente apprezzare le capacità compositive dell’artista. Il pezzo in crescendo rimanda alla mia mente il modus operandi degli Anathema.
La title track è l’anima del disco, il segnale più forte della suddetta convinzione dei propri mezzi.
“Sogno Irreale” si supporta di suoni elettronici, “Ripartenza” ritorna nel Rock, “Na Dira Dà” sfida le norme della struttura canzone entrando di striscio nel mondo della disco, mentre “Epitaph” ha con se il suono del Mellotron che assieme al flauto catapultano l’ascoltatore indietro di cinquant’anni. L’organo apre “Sono Normale”, altro motivo prettamente Rock, seguono la sentita e splendida “Saies” in cui la chitarra elettrica sciolina un assolo davvero convincente, infine “Fantasmi” e “Momenti”.
Tutti i brani sono piccoli tasselli che messi assieme formano il messaggio che Chiummento vuole esprimere, proprio come ben rappresentato nella copertina tenue di color pastello.
Valorizzare i propri limiti, sfidarli e renderli caratteristici dell’essere, grazie Francesco Chiummento per questa tua lezione, l’ennesima che porta all’attenzione di tutti soprattutto la sensibilità con cui componi le canzoni. Estremamente piacevole. MS

Italian singer-songwriter Rock has had over the years representatives worthy of notoriety, the music often for these artists has been more of a support to the words than vice versa. One character who makes his unconventional vocal particularities his strong point today is Francesco Chiummento. He gives us a lesson in not setting limits for fear of not being understood or appreciated. Passion transcends all obstacles. Love of music is a difficult energy to tame, so it must be expressed without unnatural filters and with conviction. The results may be more or less understood, but they will certainly transfer to the listener the energy of thought that never has to be castrated to the will of others.
Francesco Chiummento calls himself a dreamer, and perhaps we all are a bit of one, then there are those who listen to dreams and those who conceal them. Human frailty often tends to restrain instinct for fear of coming out too much and laying bare the most fragile and sensitive parts of our being, giving them away to people, but that matters little.
Chiummento began his artistic journey in 1997 with the rock band i Forza Maggiore, in 2001 he won the critics' award at the "Premio Ciampi" in Livorno, and today under the supervision of artistic director Alex Catania and his ever-trusted instrumentalist friend Paolo Ricca, he returns after his debut entitled "Delirio" (2016). Follow "Segnali Di Pace" (2018), "Il Viaggio" (2020), and "The Story Of Daniel/Resilience" (2022).
Evident in the proposed music is the structural research, the love for the sound/nature combination, as well as the firm belief in advocating world peace, a phrase seemingly taken for granted but never heard in everyday reality due to man's greed.
In "The Dreamer" there are twelve songs committed to research that at some junctures crosses over into experimentation. His flute accompanies the listening to calmer paths, bringing the listener's mood back to more reassuring territories. Through the scratchy, electric "Andare Verso", one immediately understands the author's intent, the vocal interpretation is heartfelt, bordering on recitative over non-set metrics and catchy music thanks to the use of keyboards that take their cues from the late 1970s. More serene air in "Primavera”, this time Le Orme peeps in the keyboards.
Chiummento addresses young people advising them to fight for life, a new spring must be born. Beautiful is the gentle piano intro accompanied by flute in "Confusione”, here the artist's compositional skills can be more appreciated. The crescendo piece brings to my mind the modus operandi of Anathema.
The title track is the soul of the album, the strongest sign of the aforementioned belief in their own means.
"Sogno Irreale" is supported by electronic sounds, "Ripartenza" returns to Rock, "Na Dira Dà" defies the norms of song structure by creeping into the world of disco, while "Epitaph" has with it the sound of the Mellotron that together with the flute catapults the listener back fifty years. The organ opens "Sono Normale”, another purely Rock tune, followed by the heartfelt and splendid "Saies" in which the electric guitar waxes a really convincing solo, and finally "Fantasmi" and "Moments."
All the songs are small pieces that put together form the message Chiummento wants to express, just as well represented in the soft pastel-colored cover.
Valuing one's limitations, challenging them and making them characteristic of being, thank you Francesco Chiummento for this lesson of yours, yet another one that brings to everyone's attention especially the sensitivity with which you compose the songs. Extremely enjoyable. MS
