L’amore che s’adopera nel realizzare un obbiettivo artistico è direttamente proporzionale alla riuscita dello stesso, narrava il sommo poeta: “L'amor che move il sole e l'altre stelle”. In Italia esistono casi in cui nella musica la sinergia fra la label e l’artista sono perfettamente sincronizzati, il tutto non soltanto per il rispetto dell’acquirente che si trova nelle mani un prodotto curato nei particolari, a partire dall’artwork sino alla registrazione, ma soprattutto per amor proprio. La musica è l’obbiettivo prestabilito, è lei la vera protagonista che riesce nell’emozionare e accomunare persone in un unico luogo, quello etereo della mente.
Avere oggi la cultura di ascoltare un disco (e non sentire) così come leggere un libro, è un dono quasi più unico che raro, relegato ai pochi fortunati che riescono a ritagliarsi un lasso di tempo da dedicare con attenzione a questa musa.
Soltanto così si riesce ad apprezzare a pieno un prodotto artistico.
Il Rock ha numerose strade, inutile in questa sede elencarle tutte, per questo ci sono i motori di ricerca, una di queste è il Progressive Rock che superficialmente oggi (a detta di molti) viene classificato come genere in fin di vita. Una branca proviene anche dal Doom e il Dark, qui Antonio Bartoccetti (Antonius Rex) ha ricercato sin dai lontani anni ’60. Questo stile non ha molti seguaci, ma come spesso si dice, pochi ma buoni oltre che affamati di questa musa. La genovese Black Widow è una casa discografica ancora di salvezza, da sempre punto di riferimento del caso in questione, produttrice di una nutrita squadra di band dedite a queste sonorità oscure ma sempre ricercate.
Una delle band a cui giustamente tiene molto è Il Segno Del Comando. Il nome prende spunto dal famoso romanzo di Giuseppe D'Agata negli anni ’70, di cui venne registrata anche una piccola serie tv. Diego Banchero (basso) e Renato “Marcy” Carpaneto (voce) sono gli ideatori di questo progetto nato nel lontano 1995.
Atmosfere gotiche disegnano disperazione, dramma, incubi, il tutto sotto una musica tuttavia semplice da ricordare e mai persa in inutili orpelli.
“Il Domenicano Bianco” è il sesto disco in studio formato da otto canzoni in cui suonano Riccardo Morello (voce, tastiere), Davide Bruzzi (chitarre, tastiere), Roberto Lucanato (chitarre), Beppi Menozzi (tastiere), Diego Banchero (basso) e Fernando Cherchi (batteria). L’album chiude una trilogia iniziata con “Der Golem” (2002 – Black Widow Records) e proseguita con “Il Volto Verde” (2013 – Black Widow Records) ispirata dai romanzi di Gustav Meyrink.
“Il Libro Color Cinabro” è l’intro strumentale che addentra l’ascoltatore nel mondo dark de Il Segno Del Comando, composto da un suono di organo impegnato in una nenia sonora rafforzata da sinfonia e ritmo cadenzato davvero d’effetto. “La Bianca Strada” è un brano crepuscolare dove la band dimostra la crescita artistica nel songwriting, qui Morello interpreta il brano senza forzature alternandosi agli assolo strumentali di ottima fattura. Molto materiale anche per il Prog fans di vecchia data.
La title track si apre con tastiere e un sottofondo di carillon dal profumo ottocentesco, quando poi sopraggiungono le strumentazioni, l’enfasi si fa spazio prepotentemente. “Ofelia” è una sorta di ballata malinconica carica di patos. Criptica “La Testa Di Medusa” , assolo d’organo maestoso perfettamente incastonato fra un brano e l’altro. Sopraggiunge “Il Dissolvimento Del Corpo Con La Spada”, brano strumentale più lungo dell’album grazie ai quasi nove minuti di durata, qui la band mette in tavola molte delle carte a disposizione. Le tastiere ricoprono un ruolo importante su una ritmica sempre pulita, ma è la chitarra elettrica che fende colpi al cuore, tecnica e melodia a braccetto. E’ il pezzo che ho apprezzato maggiormente perché qui la band si lancia senza freni.
“Missa Negra” ha un incedere in stile Goblin, un velo nero cala nella mente. La chiusura è affidata a “Solitudine”, fotografia della sensazione affidata agli arpeggi di basso. Banchero è molto ispirato e “Il Domenicano Bianco” è un piccolo gioiellino sonoro che a mio modo di vedere, piacerà anche ad un pubblico più vasto, non soltanto all’amante del gotico e del Dark.
Il succitato rispetto per l’acquirente è rafforzato da un edizione limitata in boxset curata in ogni particolare, questo è l’amore per la musica, altro che file… MS

To have today the culture of listening to a record (and not hearing) as well as reading a book, is a gift almost more unique than rare, relegated to the lucky few who manage to carve out a time frame to devote carefully to this muse.
Only in this way can one fully appreciate an artistic product.
Rock has numerous paths, useless here to list them all, for that there are search engines, one of them is Progressive Rock which superficially today (according to many) is classified as a dying genre. A branch also comes from Doom and Dark, here Antonio Bartoccetti (Antonius Rex) has been researching since the distant 1960s. This style does not have many followers, but as is often said, few but good as well as hungry for this muse. Genoa-based Black Widow is a lifeline record company that has always been a reference point for the case in point, producing a large team of bands devoted to these obscure but always sought-after sounds.
One of the bands it rightly cherishes is The Sign Of Command. The name is taken from the famous novel by Giuseppe D'Agata in the 1970s, of which a small TV series was also recorded. Diego Banchero (bass) and Renato "Marcy" Carpaneto (vocals) are the creators of this project born back in 1995.
Gothic atmospheres draw despair, drama, nightmares, all under music that is nevertheless simple to remember and never lost in unnecessary trappings.
"The White Dominican" is the sixth studio album consisting of eight songs featuring Riccardo Morello (vocals, keyboards), Davide Bruzzi (guitars, keyboards), Roberto Lucanato (guitars), Beppi Menozzi (keyboards), Diego Banchero (bass) and Fernando Cherchi (drums). The album closes a trilogy that began with "Der Golem" (2002 - Black Widow Records) and continued with "The Green Face" (2013 - Black Widow Records) inspired by Gustav Meyrink's novels.
"The Cinnabar-Colored Book" is the instrumental intro that enters the listener into the dark world of The Sign Of Command, consisting of an organ sound engaged in a sonic dirge reinforced by symphony and cadenced rhythm that is truly impressive. "La Bianca Strada" is a twilight track where the band demonstrates artistic growth in songwriting, here Morello interprets the song without forcing himself by alternating with beautifully crafted instrumental solos. Lots of material for longtime Prog fans as well.
The title track opens with keyboards and a nineteenth-century-scented background of music boxes; when the instrumentation then overtakes, the emphasis comes overpoweringly. "Ophelia" is a kind of melancholy ballad charged with pathos. Cryptic "La Testa Di Medusa" , majestic organ solo perfectly sandwiched between tracks. Over comes "The Dissolution Of The Body With The Sword," the longest instrumental track on the album thanks to its nearly nine-minute duration, here the band brings many of the cards on the table. Keyboards play an important role over a consistently clean rhythmic beat, but it is the electric guitar that slices blows to the heart, technique and melody going hand in hand. It is the piece I enjoyed the most because here the band launches itself unabashedly.
"Missa Negra" has a Goblin-esque pacing, a black veil descends in the mind. Closing is "Solitude," a photograph of the feeling entrusted to bass arpeggios. Banchero is very inspired, and "The White Dominican" is a little sonic gem that in my view will appeal to a wider audience, not just the lover of Gothic and Dark.
The aforementioned respect for the purchaser is reinforced by a limited edition boxset edited in every detail, this is the love of music, other than files... MS
