Per capire dove sta andando la musica e come si sta evolvendo, bisogna necessariamente ascoltare di tutto, tanto più se nel mirino del cuore si ha il Rock Progressivo o il Metal. Le influenze possono giungere da ogni parte, dalla classica, dal Folk, dal Punk etc. Mi ricordo ad esempio che il Rap entrò anche nel Metal attraverso un EP molto interessante dei mitici Anthrax del 1987 intitolato “I'm The Man”. Generi apparentemente distanti quando invece sono accomunati entrambi dall’essere viatico di protesta.
Ma non esistono solamente esperimenti sonori, ci sono anche quelli d’approccio alla musica, incontri particolari che possono dare risalto maggiore al messaggio che un artista vuole passare all’ascoltatore. Un esempio lo abbiamo con il progetto David Madnight (rapper) e Luca Spadaccini (campione di pesi mediomassimi italiano). Musica e sport, un connubio semplice dove uno solitamente alimenta l’altro, quante volte si fa ad esempio jogging con le cuffie per attingere ulteriore energia dalla musica che ci fa scaturire dal cervello la dopamina?
Madnight (Davide Capuzzi) inizia la carriera artistica nel 2010 ed è stato fra i primi rappers italiani mascherati. Ha militato nel 2000 nel gruppo Hip Hop abruzzese MissiDominici. Nel 2011 si approccia verso la scena Metal e forma la band Crossover Arkan Asylum. Si adopera anche nella beneficenza donando soldi nel 2020 per la ricerca contro il cancro attraverso i proventi del singolo “My Diamond” registrato da solista assieme alla cantante Paola Edmea Isaja, e altre cose ancora. Tutta questa esperienza è palpabile nel disco “War Machine” formato da nove tracce di uno stesso pezzo edito in diversi formati e stili.
Tengo a rilevare la buona registrazione e il giusto apporto compositivo di Spadaccini. Un “Intro” apre le danze, due minuti per un inno al non arrendersi mai nella vita. Echi, vocali donano profondità oltre che intensità al concetto.
Suono minimale dotato d’ipnotica essenza che conduce al pezzo forte del disco, la title track “War Machine”. Questa volta è il suono di una chitarra metallica a fare da base. Musicalmente tutto è di facile memorizzazione. Segue la versione dello stesso brano intitolata “War Machine International Version” con la partecipazione alla voce dell’ospite Morna. Qui il testo è cantato in lingua inglese. E poi “Radio Edit”, “The Original Rmx” e “Metalcore Version” (la mia preferita) dove la chitarra elettrica diventa un rasoio grazie anche a un ottimo assolo. C’è spazio anche per un altro brano intitolato “Fight Clubbing”, leggermente pesante e dall’incedere in mid tempo. Così dopo l’”Intro” giunge “L’Outro”, pezzo d’atmosfera questa volta supportata in modo importante dalle tastiere.
 David Madnight & Luca Spadaccini con questo disco traducono in suono un bel pugno allo stomaco. Chi si arrende è perduto… Fight! MS

To understand where music is going and how it is evolving, you necessarily have to listen to everything, all the more so if you have Progressive Rock or Metal in your heart's sights. Influences can come from all over, from classical, Folk, Punk etc. For example, I remember that Rap also entered Metal through a very interesting EP by the legendary Anthrax in 1987 entitled "I'm The Man." Genres apparently distant when in fact they are both united by being viaticum of protest.But there are not only sound experiments, there are also those of approach to music, particular encounters that can give greater emphasis to the message that an artist wants to pass to the listener. We have an example with the David Madnight (rapper) and Luca Spadaccini (Italian middleweight champion) project. Music and sports, a simple union where one usually fuels the other, how many times do we jog for example with headphones on to draw additional energy from the music that triggers dopamine from our brains?Madnight (Davide Capuzzi) began his artistic career in 2010 and was among the first Italian masked rappers. He militated in 2000 in the Abruzzo-based Hip Hop group MissiDominici. In 2011 he approached towards the Metal scene and formed the Crossover band Arkan Asylum. He also works in charity by donating money in 2020 for cancer research through the proceeds of the single "My Diamond" recorded solo with singer Paola Edmea Isaja, and other things. All this experience is palpable in the album "War Machine" consisting of nine tracks of the same song edited in different formats and styles.
I would like to note Spadaccini's good recording and proper compositional input. An "Intro" opens the dance, two minutes for a hymn to never giving up in life. Echoes, vocals lend depth as well as intensity to the concept.
Minimal sound endowed with hypnotic essence that leads to the album's highlight, the title track "War Machine." This time it is the sound of a metal guitar that serves as the basis. Musically everything is easy to memorize. This is followed by a version of the same track entitled "War Machine International Version" featuring guest vocals by Morna. Here the lyrics are sung in English. And then "Radio Edit," "The Original Rmx" and "Metalcore Version" (my favorite) where the electric guitar becomes a razor thanks also to an excellent solo. There is also room for another track titled "Fight Clubbing," which is slightly heavy and has a mid tempo procession. So after the "Intro" comes "L'Outro," an atmospheric piece this time supported in an important way by keyboards.
 David Madnight & Luca Spadaccini with this record translate into sound a beautiful punch to the stomach. He who gives up is lost... Fight! MS
