La musica è un fattore mentale, anche se sappiamo bene che il cuore ha una rilevanza fondamentale. Essa può essere sia una valvola di sfogo sia un linguaggio per poter comunicare sensazioni dove le parole molto spesso non giungono perché impossibilitate nello scopo. Quando anche l’ascoltatore prova in ugual maniera ciò che sta comunicando l’artista, allora siamo dentro una forma superiore che amiamo definire “arte”.
La musica per la mente è notoriamente la Psichedelia, (dal greco psyché, "anima" e dēlô, "rivelo"), nata sotto lo stimolo di droghe acide come per esempio l’LSD nella metà degli anni ’60. Musica visionaria, introspettiva, dalle mille sfaccettature, fra i nomi più importanti a iniziare questo percorso ci sono i Beatles, Pink Floyd, Doors, Grateful Dead e molte altre ancora. Il genere giunge ai giorni nostri senza mai avere avuto un vero e proprio calo d’interesse, stabilizzato sempre nelle vendite dai suoi affezionati seguaci. Anche l’Italia ha dimostrato attenzione al riguardo, e nuove leve nascono continuamente, come nel caso della cantante e polistrumentista parmense Rebecca Magri, in arte Roxenne.
“Pyroxene” è l’EP di debutto, ma l’artista non è di certo nuova nel campo musicale perché negli anni ha già effettuato collaborazioni importanti come con Boris Williams (The Cure), Jem Tayle (Shelleyan Orphan), Cristiano Godano (Marlene Kuntz), Roberto Dellera (Afterhours, The Winstons), Tin Woodman ed esperienze in band come AyahuascA, Kaptain Preemo, Hapnea e Upupayāma.
Roxenne suona batteria e tastiere, oltre ad essere la voce dei brani, con lei ci sono anche Mattia Mazzeo alle chitarre e Marco Mainardi al basso.
L’EP “Pyroxene” contiene cinque brani in cui addentrarsi in un viaggio cosmico dove l’artista esorcizza i propri demoni attraverso questa musica per la mente. “      Chimismo” introduce all’ascolto, la musica pacata ha solide basi nell’Acid Rock di gruppi come Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Black Angels e Tame Impala. Bella la voce, così l’interpretazione sensuale.
“Pyroxene” è il titolo del secondo brano adoperato anche come singolo di cui potete apprezzare anche il video di Andrea Alberici e Thea Ambrosini sia qui nel blog che su You Tube. Un astronave in collisione con dei meteoriti porta Roxenne a un atterraggio d’emergenza, dove da sola in un territorio ostile, sarà costretta a compiere una scelta. Questa è anche metafora della propria vita.
“Supreme Soft Porn Meditation For Young Space Soldiers” alza il ritmo e gioca con la doppia vocalità. Da sottolineare all’interno le buone melodie facili da memorizzare.
Il brano che personalmente ho più apprezzato per mio gusto personale è “Savoir-faire”, ruffiano al punto giusto, qui Roxenne si sfrega all’udito come una gatta sorniona, ed è un bell’ascoltare!
La chiusura spetta a “Selvatica”, intrisa di Rock in stile Litfiba.
Roxenne è all’esordio, ma sa bene dove parare, la sua musica è coinvolgente e penetra dentro l’ascoltatore esplodendo frammenti fra cuore e testa. Non ci resta che attendere la prova del full-length. MS

Music is a mental factor, although we know well that the heart is of paramount importance. It can be both an outlet and a language to be able to communicate feelings where words very often do not reach because they are impossible in purpose. When the listener also feels equally what the artist is communicating, then we are inside a higher form that we like to call "art."
Music for the mind is famously Psychedelia, (from the Greek psyché, "soul" and dēlô, "I reveal"), born under the stimulus of acid drugs such as LSD in the mid-1960s. Visionary, introspective, multifaceted music, among the most important names to begin this journey are the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Doors, Grateful Dead and many others. The genre reaches the present day without ever having had a real decline in interest, always stabilized in sales by its loyal followers. Italy, too, has shown attention to it, and new up-and-comers are constantly being born, as in the case of Parma-based singer and multi-instrumentalist Rebecca Magri, aka Roxenne.
"Pyroxene" is the debut EP, but the artist is certainly not new in the musical field because over the years she has already made important collaborations such as with Boris Williams (The Cure), Jem Tayle (Shelleyan Orphan), Cristiano Godano (Marlene Kuntz), Roberto Dellera (Afterhours, The Winstons), Tin Woodman and experiences in bands such as AyahuascA, Kaptain Preemo, Hapnea and Upupayāma.
Roxenne plays drums and keyboards, as well as being the vocalist for the songs; with her are also Mattia Mazzeo on guitars and Marco Mainardi on bass.
The "Pyroxene" EP contains five tracks in which to delve into a cosmic journey where the artist exorcises her own demons through this music for the mind. " Chimismo" introduces to the listening, the calm music has solid foundations in the Acid Rock of bands like Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Black Angels and Tame Impala. Beautiful vocals, so is the sensual interpretation.
"Pyroxene" is the title of the second track also used as a single of which you can also appreciate the video by Andrea Alberici and Thea Ambrosini both here in the blog and on You Tube.
A spaceship colliding with meteorites leads Roxenne to an emergency landing, where alone in hostile territory, she will be forced to make a choice. This is also a metaphor for her own life.
"Supreme Soft Porn Meditation For Young Space Soldiers" ups the tempo and plays with dual vocals. Of note inside are the good melodies that are easy to memorize.
The track I personally enjoyed the most for my personal taste is "Savoir-faire", pandering to the right degree, here Roxenne rubs at the ear like a sly cat, and it's a good listen!
Closing is up to "Selvatica", steeped in Litfiba-style rock.
Roxenne is on her debut, but she knows where to aim, her music is engaging and penetrates inside the listener exploding fragments between heart and head. We just have to wait for the full-length test. MS
