Ogni volta che m’imbatto in un album strumentale resto in qualche modo affascinato, perché la musica inizia un percorso immaginifico da dove finiscono le parole. Riuscire a far scaturire nella mente dell’ascoltatore delle immagini è un compito di certo non banale, se poi andiamo a considerare che ognuno di noi ha un suo preciso e personale modo d’intendere dettato dalle esperienze singole della persona. Non siamo tutti uguali, anche se la situazione sociale oggi tende a farci divenire questo. La musica ci viene in soccorso, così la band Nova Sui Prati Notturni.
Il Krautrock proposto in questi cinque brani è quello dal sapore vintage, una musica ben definita e riconducibile ai tempi che furono, fra la fine degli anni ’60 e i ’70 ma con connotati più moderni suggeriti dal Post Rock. La prima domanda che potrebbe venire fuori è “Ma c’è bisogno oggi di una musica come questa?”, la risposta è molto semplice e la trasformo a mia volta in un'altra domanda: “Allora perché ancora oggi ascoltiamo musica classica?”. A mio modo d’intendere la musica è musica e basta.
Per conoscere i Nova Sui Prati Notturni mi riallaccio alla loro biografia ufficiale che così li racconta: “I Nova sui prati notturni sono un gruppo rock italiano, nel 2005 già autore di un’opera musicale, teatrale, video dedicata ad Arthur Rimbaud e James Douglas Morrison e presentata in un festival torinese dedicato al poeta francese nel 2005 (Blog on Rimbaud).
Il loro primo album inizia con una versione di "Signore Delle Cime" del compositore e conterraneo Bepi De Marzi, che dedica al gruppo un suo scritto.
L’album Frank del 2014 è ispirato al Frankenstein di Mary Shelley ed è definito dal sito OndaRock “La prima opera post-rock in assoluto”.
Sempre del 2014 è la colonna sonora del documentario Holodomor. La memoria negata di Manuel Baldini e Fabio Ferrando, presentato anche al Gallio Film Festival.
Nel 2016 esce l’album Non expedit. Working Title Film Festival: nel 2018 i Nova sono premiati assieme all’artista Vicentino Pietro Scarso per il corto "Un Ultimo Giro".
Nel 2020 esce Nova Sui prati Notturni", album omonimo. Nello stesso anno i Nova tornano al cinema con la colonna sonora del doc di Annamaria Macripò intitolato "Da Lontano, Più Forte" e presentato al Torino Film Festival.
Il 30 dicembre del 2020 il sito Princefaster mette l’album omonimo dei NsPN al settimo posto tra tutti gli album usciti in Italia nel corso dell’anno.
A dicembre del 2022 la rivista Blow Up inserisce in classifica al numero 37 il brano “Oggi 2020” dei NsPN, in una classifica dedicata alle migliori canzoni del nuovo millennio (dal 2000 al 2022).”.
Sono formati da Federica Gonzato (basso, pianoforte, testi, voce) e Giulio Pastorello (chitarre, batteria, testi, voce) con Gianfranco Trappolin (batteria, basso, chitarra, voce) e Massimo Fontana (testi, voce, chitarra elettrica).
“Fuera!” si presenta diretta, senza troppi fronzoli, in alcuni momenti addirittura ipnotica. Pur essendo musica strumentale all’interno non si aggirano grandi assolo strumentali, bensì strutture atte a comporre un discorso unico e continuo. “Last Ride” ha un inizio maggiormente introspettivo, quasi psichedelico ed è qui che la fantasia prende slancio in un volo etereo. Uno stand by dalla vita quotidiana per ritagliarsi un momento di quiete. “Lucet” a sua volta va ascoltata a occhi chiusi per poter meglio captare i passaggi sonori ricchi di effetti. Ritorna il ritmo della batteria nel brano “Matkaa”, decisamente più ampio e solare. La chiusura spetta a “Zeit” che potremo collocare in una via di mezzo fra tutto ciò che ho descritto.
“Quante Stelle”, è vero, non le avevo notate così numerose alla vista, ora che ho ascoltato bene sono entrato a pieno nel vostro viaggio. Un disco per chi non ha paura di volare. MS

Whenever I come across an instrumental album I am somehow fascinated, because the music begins an imaginative journey from where the words end. Being able to trigger images in the listener's mind is certainly not a trivial task if we then go on to consider that each of us has his or her own precise and personal way of understanding dictated by the individual experiences of the person. We are not all the same, although the social situation today tends to make us that way. Music comes to our rescue, so does the band Nova Sui Prati Notturni.
The Krautrock proposed in these five tracks is one with a vintage flavor, a well-defined music that can be traced back to the days of yore, between the late 1960s and 1970s but with more modern connotations suggested by Post Rock. The first question that might come up is "But is there a need today for music like this?", the answer is very simple and I turn it in turn into another question, "So why do we still listen to classical music today?" In my understanding, music is just music.
To get to know Nova Sui Prati Notturni I refer back to their official biography, which tells about them as follows: "Nova sui prati notturni is an Italian rock band, in 2005 already the author of a musical, theatrical, video work dedicated to Arthur Rimbaud and James Douglas Morrison and presented at a Turin festival dedicated to the French poet in 2005 (Blog on Rimbaud).
Their first album begins with a version of Signore delle cime by composer and countryman Bepi de Marzi, who dedicates one of his writings to the group.
The 2014 album Frank is inspired by Mary Shelley's Frankenstein and is described by the website OndaRock as "the first ever post-rock work.".

On December 30, 2020, the website Princefaster puts NsPN's self-titled album in seventh place among all albums released in Italy during the year.
In December 2022, Blow Up magazine places NsPN's song "Oggi 2020" in the charts at number 37, in a ranking dedicated to the best songs of the new millennium (from 2000 to 2022)."
They are formed by Federica Gonzato (bass, piano, lyrics, voice) and Giulio Pastorello (guitars, drums, lyrics, voice) with Gianfranco Trappolin (drums, bass, guitar, voice) and Massimo Fontana (lyrics, voice, electric guitar).
"Fuera!" comes across as direct, without too many frills, even hypnotic in some moments. Although it is instrumental music inside, there are no big instrumental solos roaming around, but rather structures designed to compose a single, continuous discourse. "Last Ride" has a more introspective, almost psychedelic beginning, and it is here that the imagination gains momentum in an ethereal flight. A stand by from everyday life to carve out a quiet moment. "Lucet" in turn should be listened to with your eyes closed in order to better pick up the effect-rich sound passages. The drum beat returns in the decidedly broader and sunnier track "Matkaa." Closure falls to "Zeit," which we may place somewhere in between all that I have described.
"How Many Stars," it is true, I had not noticed them so numerous to the eye, now that I have listened well I have entered fully into your journey. A record for those who are not afraid to fly. MS
